    Elvis TTWII (Original movie 1970)

I just watched this movie on DVD, this dvd is from malasia, witch has the original TTWII and the Aloha show on it, in DTS and Dolby Digital sound.
And it really bothers me that MGM never tried to remaster this movie, i know we have the SE of this movie..so i decided to remaster this thing myself, with my new pc, wich is much faster than my older one. And it's amazing what you an do with a simple pc program with the visual! IT TAKES SOME TIME TO DO THE COMPLETE MOVIE..i only have the first scene done right now but i't looks great, just adjust the colours and so one and it looks completly different all ready. It's a real shame if i convert this first part in it's lowest form that it still is to big for this site to upload it, if i can find a way to upload it...i will do that, i will make some screen caputeres to show you all the improved quality! so watch this space!
The lowest size is 2.06mb in rm format...that's real player file, still to big to upload...and it's only 1.15 minutes of film.. due my new pc i don't have the tools to upload this file to my site, so maybe Albert can help me out here?

Hey Patrick, the opening sequence with the flashlights popping is one of my all time favorites from E ' movies... can you mention with which tool/programme you have done the re-editing ?

I have made a compilation of the Old & SE versions of the movie : I started with the original title credits and also re-inserted the missing 4 performances - but have an irritating "pause" betweeen the inserted scences.

Let us know when you finish your project. Good luck.

Althought I love the SE of "That's The Way It Is" I never really understood why they didn't opted for a version like the Aloha DVD with both versions on it. I have the original version of "That's The Way It Is" but on VHS. And although still is great shape this tape will turn 20 next year.

    Hi,
i totally agree with you, i also would have loved to have both versions on a double dvd,
but THAT'S THE WAY IT IS in the Elvis world, people who produce the material never care
about what we Elvis fans think or would like to have, as they know for certain that we will
    buy it anyway.
Could you please tell me what program you use to improve the image, as i'm making a compilation from my VCD collection and maybe i can use it too.
    Greetings

Thanks guys! the tool i use to improve the quality is from magix, called: Film on cd/dvd 2.0, i believe there is follow up released, that's 3.0. With this program you can edit movies, improve them and you can also improve the sound! the best thing with this program you can save your movie into: avi, mpeg1&2, RM (real player format) and wma. If you want to burn your movie to DVD, with complete animated menus!, you can do that also! it burns to dvd, mini-dvd, vcd and super vcd. It's a real good program for not that much money, i payed 50 euros for it.
So look for MAGIX and you all can createyour own TTWII movie! right now i'm trying to improve the CBS tapes! wich i have on a very bad DVD, the picture is really horrible, even worse than the VHS tapes i have.. the first 30 minutes from rapid city is finished and it looks pretty good, i will upload some screen pictures as soon as possible!

One of my favorites sequences of any Elvis movie is the original TTWII, when Elvis drives up to the MGM gates. With the flowered shirt, the sunglasses and everything, he is the coolest guy in the world! Isn't "The Next Step Is Love" being played? I can't remember!

    I've heard that, too.

There's actually a version of the "Suspicious Minds" performance in the Special Edition edit of TTWII that features in Sky adverts AT THE CINEMA right now. Unfortunately, as cool as it is to see Elvis on the big screen, they've chosen to use the end of his performance - where he's all out of puff, and to newcomers unfamiliar with the full material, he seems sloppy and ineffective.

Although I think "Suspicious Minds" is a tad overlong in the revamped DVD edition, it at least features Elvis pulling a light hearted prank on one of the members of the Sweet Inspirations. Pure Elvis - and something that reminds us of why he was the genuine article.

When TTWII was released here in Belgium in 1971, I JUST CAN'T HELP BELIEVIN was one of the highlights, if not THE highlight of the movie, and my special favourite.

And when the SE came out, which one, among the few songs that were taken off was not there anymore ??? you guessed it, I JUST CAN'T HELP BELIEVIN.

The Elvis world has always been a mystery to me and will always be, just think of all the available material from TTWII, ON TOUR, FEBRUARY 70, FEBRUARY 72 and more that we know for sure were professionaly filmed, will we ever see them, why can't they release that material ????

    Greetings

Myself, what I miss the most from the original TTWII versus the SE is "Sweet Caroline". Gotta love Elvis doin' Neal. Too bad he never did "And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind" on stage. Oh well, ya can't win e'm all.
