Yeah Jeanno, this song is a favorite of mine as well (as you can already tell)
However, I also am a big fan of the 70's "live" version, especially the one found on the import title "Americas Own", plus the one on the FTD title "Spring Tours 77."
This song is a favourit of mine, specially for EP?s horsy voice and, of course, the incredible guitar work from Jerry Reed. I?ve been looking for some guitar parts / tabs from Presley/Reed?s version but I never found anything.Maybe some of you know where I could get it?

You mention some cool versions, Steve.
I always liked the Desert Storm (Vegas, September 2, 1974) a lot!

I quite like what he did with it live, but the studio version really overshadows it. I like the more acoustic feel and the great harmonica work. Elvis really varies his delivery verse to verse, which makes it a more imaginative performance. As far as the guitar part, it's in G and a standard I IV V progression, so the G C D7 chords. It sounds like it could be in open G tuning (DGDGBD) as I think the lowest note fingered at the start is a D. If in open G tuning, you can also play the bass run that forms part of the intro (you miss the E flat note if in regular tuning). Hope that's some help. Of course I might be wrong thoughIf anyone knows for sure, I'd also be glad to know.
THANKS T_J for those helpful comments.![]()
I tried it but it still looks a little bit complicated. You know, when something sounds too easy, it can because the one who?s playing is very good...Anyway, i just keep on trying.
