OMG Diane...I am the same way. Just the music gets to me. I saw it in 1966 with my Mom, and I left the theater crying. I have the VHS..I have the DVD, and when I was 8 years old I saved my allowance so I could buy the hardback edition. How anyone can watch it and NOT be moved to tears I don't understand.
I knew, I just knew that YOU would understand the music.

Is she a Staffordshire Terrier, or a pit? She looks so much like my mom's Staffordshire.

Diane...at this point I am just mesmerised!!...How in God`s name could anyone look after that many animals?!!!.....You must an equally impressive army of Oompah Loompahs!!!!

Jack Some of these animals have gone over Rainbow Bridge. These are all fur and feather people from 20 years ago to the present. The most cats we had at one time was 32 and the most peafowl was 196 but I was younger then. I still enjoy them as much but I'm not as fast . We still have 26 cats, 1 dog, 2 peahens and 7 Diamond Doves. More peafowl and some Golden Mantle pheasants and fantail pigeons will be added again after our permanent move to Maine, but nothing like we had back in Oregon.

No..."Born Free" came out in 1966. It's a true story about a couple named George and Joy Adamson. He was a game warden that brought home a tiny lion cib that they named Elsa. It's the story of turning Elsa back into the wild, after being raised as a pet. Any animal lover NEEDS to see it. I bet I have seen it 50 times and I still cry every time.

No, Born Free was a movie of a real life story about a couple who raised a lion cub named Elsa and brought her to the wilds to be free....can't even think of it, I blubber. I can't imagine bringing up an animal and then having to let it go even though it would be the best thing for it. I saved a baby robin once that our son brought to me and cried for two weeks when I set it free. I never looked at robins the same way again. Same with the Blue Heron in my pictures that had I gotten caught with it, would have been fined $750...my husband almost had a heart attack when I brought it home. Things change in your head when you have an animal or bird live with you and you find out their personalities.

So true Diane. The coolest off-beat animal we ever raised while I was a child was a deer. His mother had been killed and my brothers found him and brought him home. We fed him on a baby bottle and named him "Bucky". He even slept on the bed with my brother. His personality was alot like a dog's....he would follow us around like the dogs did. When he was close to being an adult we helped turn him back out with the help of our vet. I was a little girl, 6 years old, and I cried and cried for "Bucky" to stay.

My father-in-law did the same when my husband was a child. You're lucky, most fawns are hard to keep alive when in captivity. Yes, I bet it was hard to see it go.

The Blue Heron was the most unusual one for me. I could have kept the baby possum Snicker brought to me but I knew where the mother lived. Snicker was mad at me for not keeping it. He kept looking for it around the house and giving me that look..."you didn't keep it did you!"...no questions, flat statement.

I wish non-cat people would take the time to really get to know what they are like. They are soooo smart and so full of expression. Whenever I hear someone say "I don't like cats" the 1st thing I ask them is "Have you ever had a cat?" The answer is always...NO. I just keep saying "you don't know what you are missing".

When I was 5 years old our Lab brought home a tiny baby skunk. We fed him for a few days using a "Doll" bottle that went with one of my dolls. We named him Moe, but he was just too little and weak. Our vet told us that skunks are hard to raise..the odds are not good. We wrapped him in one of my "doll" blankets and buried him in a shoe box. As usual.....I cried buckets of tears.

Your "Belle" looks just like my Wilbur! I love the one of Amanda sitting in the box! Is Babette the black and white? She looks just like the 1st cat my hubs and I had after we got married. We named ours "Fred"....we met each other in a class in college and our Prof's name was Fred, so we found that very fitting!

The bi-colors are fairly rare. Her dad weighed 12 lbs. and her mom weighed 8 lbs. and Annabelle weighs 10 lbs. BUT.....she thinks she weighs 110 lbs. As my hubs is always saying...."if she were a Giant Schnauzer she would be hell on wheels".
