Why Elvis wore bandaids and used a cane?

    Hello

Great work with the jumpsuits section .While I was looking at it I noticed that in almost every picture Elvis is wearing bandaids in his fingers .Someone said to me once that he wore it to protect his rings, but I don't think that is true cuz in alot of pictures he's wearing bandaids in fingers that have no rings.Does anyone knows? Also,I have seing him using a cane. Why?The flash light was also a mistery, but someone told me why already. Can anyone help me find out why the bandaids and the cane?

    Thank you

They were used to prevent slippage, so that EP wouldn't lose his rings & the fans couldn't grab and keep them when he pressed the flesh (you can see somebody trying to lift his Aloha Horseshoe ring in both the main & rehearsal venues - it was a common occurrence).

The band-aids on the other fingers were to soften the "crush" from rings on adjacent fingers when EP shook hands.

Many of EP's canes concealed ejectable daggers in the tips.

The Police flashlights are quite heavy & can also be used as a weapon / stick if needed (turned upside down, the flashlight becomes a baton); very effective, I might add.

Both were used, in EP's words, for "protection 12 feet in". EP's concealed pistols were for threats "12 feet out." In other words, ..... what happened to John Lennon would have never happened to Elvis.

EP was fully aware of the threats out there & was proactive in taking measures to prevent them (to him & his family).

    Hope this helps.

There's a snippet in On Tour, with Elvis in an elevator (wearing the blue, crosshatched suit -- I think maybe April 5), where I swear I see Elvis pull open his cane to reveal a blade inside.

Sword cane aside, even a regular cane can be a potent weapon -- one of the Shaolin weapons forms that I've learned was a cane form, utiizing moves associated primarily with three other Chinese weapons (broadsword, staff, and straight sword) and including both strong blows and precision nerve strikes and the like.
