They were used to prevent slippage, so that EP wouldn't lose his rings & the fans couldn't grab and keep them when he pressed the flesh (you can see somebody trying to lift his Aloha Horseshoe ring in both the main & rehearsal venues - it was a common occurrence).
The band-aids on the other fingers were to soften the "crush" from rings on adjacent fingers when EP shook hands.
Many of EP's canes concealed ejectable daggers in the tips.
The Police flashlights are quite heavy & can also be used as a weapon / stick if needed (turned upside down, the flashlight becomes a baton); very effective, I might add.
Both were used, in EP's words, for "protection 12 feet in". EP's concealed pistols were for threats "12 feet out." In other words, ..... what happened to John Lennon would have never happened to Elvis.
EP was fully aware of the threats out there & was proactive in taking measures to prevent them (to him & his family).
