Thread: In the Twilight of Memory: Should I buy it?

Question In the Twilight of Memory: Should I buy it? GOT IT!!!!!!

I am thinking about my next EP Book purchase (since I cannot get Inner Elvis by Peter Whitmer, which is the one I want the most now) I am thinking of getting the book by June Juanico "In the twilight of memory". Have any of you read it, and what did you think?

And should I also get the DVD Elvis and June?

Did guys also read it or is it a typical girly book?

    Please give me your input!!

IMO, not at all a 'typical girly book'!

I highly recommend this one. It is a great glimpse into a period of innocence and discovery for Elvis--a period that's been covered before but not quite like this. I don't recall offhand how much June was quoted in Last Train..., but my impression when I read this book was that it covered a whole other aspect of this period that was otherwise relatively unknown. It was like a missing chapter.

That lady must have kept a very extensive diary, because the details are fantastic but do not seem contrived in the least bit to me. She is also a very good writer.

I think you'll really like it!

...Watch--you'll read it and say it's too girly!
...you won't forget me when I go.

June was also the one that started EP down his "Alternative" Spiritual Journey - in the mid 1950's (not Geller, who came along the following decade, despite his claims / impressions to the contrary).

Read the book to learn more.

    Question

Thanks, I will probably get it!

What about the DVD Elvis and June?

The DVD Elvis and June comes highly recommended. Good, interesting commentary/interviews and some great home movie footage.

Oh, and you will also learn about the book she gifted Elvis, which 'Capt. El' touched upon in his comment above.

A quality production, and the DVD has a few additional extras to the previous video version.

'What, honey ? ..... one scarf for the balcony ?! ........... OK ........... gimme a baseball ! ............ there's no way unless you put a rock in it'.

In here late as always--I LOVE this book. I get yelled at for reading it too much I think I read it for the 5th time a couple months ago. I paid $25 for it--there was only 1 in stock of it at amazon.com when I bought it. It was worth the $25 and then some. June was one lucky lady.

Buy it, buy it, buy it!

I just finished reading this book yesterday and enjoyed it very much! Now I have a question for those of you who have read it. What do you think about her thoughts on what TCB really stood for??
    Before Elvis, there was nothing....

I really love this picture of June and Elvis, its a shame it is not in the book (it is but with June's face cut out...), and I wish that they would have used it as a cover. I tried to make one myself, how I would have liked the bookcover to have looked. This is my first and second try!!
