    "Elvis - The Japanese Aloha"

    Hello!

I just founded the Dvd "Elvis - the Japanese Aloha". On this dvd there is tapes from the Japanese film crew who filmed the Aloha concert 14 Jan. Is there someone here who has watched this dvd and the japanese tapes from the concert? How is it? Good, Bad etc. ?

    Japanese Aloha

I don't have this DVD, but I do have the footage on VHS.

The backstage footage is cool ... Elvis' dressing room, footage of the TCB Band in rehearsal etc.

The Japanese version of the show is pretty straightforward, although there are several different camera angles on many of the songs which makes it interesting.

The DVD cover here mentions the intro of Jack Lord which, as you probably know, was left off the original release. The recent DVD edition of the special has the intro, but no camera shot of Jack. I would imagine that they would've included any image of Jack if it existed. I don't think this Japanese version has a shot of Jack, or I would've remembered seeing him.

If you can get this DVD at a reasonable price, you might as well go for it.

Yeah, that's the stuff. The YouTube clip is much better quality than what I have on tape, so maybe it's from this DVD? There is also footage of the Japanese hosts talking about Elvis before the show.

I suppose each country that took the show live had their own hosts for the telecast. I know that when I saw the show live here in Sydney in '73, there were two Australian TV hosts doing it, although I can't recall exactly who they were now.
