    2 wills?

A conversation I had yesterday unrelated to Elvis called this issue to mind.

I recall reading in the Revelations book (not to be confused with the Book of Revelations ) that there was supposedly a different will from Elvis than the one that was executed. I'm pretty sure Billy, Marty, and Lamar all believe that.

Part of the reason for their believing this could be that Elvis thought certain people were named in it who actually weren't, he told them they were (or told certain people that so-and-so was, etc.), and then based on the way things went down, it looked like there must have been a different will.

In fact they said that he told them certain people were going to be taken care of who weren't. It's also possible that he knowingly misled some people about it. I'd like to think that's not true, but it's possible.

But I think there was more to it than just what he had told them. Somebody had apparently seen a second (or first) will, and I think Joe and Vernon were both mentioned in this discussion. I'm pretty fuzzy on the details--sorry. I can read that part of the book over again, and I would if I had it handy, but I'm curious if anyone has any additional insights on this.

It is either a case of EP saying one thing to some people, ........ and - in reality - doing another (a common occurrence, btw) .................. or ................ Vernon making some post August 16, 1977 "adjustments" that fell more in line with his thinking / wishes.

As is usually the case in reality --------> there is most likely some level of TRUTH to both scenarios.

Vernon did, tread carefully, in choosing the right moment to get EP to "sign off" on the will .............. according to accounts ................. when EP was in the right mood to tend to it. In that sense, there was also some influenced adjustment well before the Summer of '77 as well.

Regarding the will I remember reading Ginger Alden contested the contents also, apparently Elvis had agreed to do some home improvements on the home of Ginger's parents and this led to al sorts of claims after Elvis had died.

I can't help feeling that all kinds of people tried to jump on the gravy train to try and milk the cow for the last time so to speak.

There is no doubt that Elvis would have taken care of those close to him, he would have known who the hangers on where. At the time of dying Elvis was only reported to have half a million dollors in the bank so this would have had to have been used carefully to keep the estate running.

It was typical of Vernon to put-off doing something that he & EP didn't quite see eye-to-eye on.

IMO, Vernon played an obviously un-popular ............. but necessary role counter-balancing some of EP's extravagent tendencies. EP also used, when it suited his needs, Vernon as a convenient excuse / scape-goat .......... as being the hard-nosed Daddy. Overall, in the end, ironically, ............... it was a successful arrangement - on a number of levels.

    -------------------------

In light of some things that have transpired - privately (during both EP's days and even recently - again ironically related to EP) ............. regarding Ginger Alden et. al. ---------> I have revised my "opinion" regarding "The Aldens" & their overall waning innocence / purity.

Perhaps another story - for another day.
