I remember in the early eighties a 2 LP set called Rockin' and Romantic Elvis. Can't recall the exact tracks on them but i believe they were all 60's tracks.

Anyhow...thats what made me think of Elvis' ballads. At the time i was more into Rockin' Elvis. As the years went on i found myself swaying towards Romantic. Now - it just depends on my mood at the time.

So, on to the question in hand.
I adore all of Elvis' Ballads whether they be 50's 60's or 70's. I probably lean towards the 70's actually.
But thinking back at what tracks were on that set .... boy there are some fantastic 60's ballads.

There are so many to choose from but here goes - in no order.....
    60's
    Mine
For The Millionth and the last time
    Theres always Me
    It Hurts Me
    Ask Me
    Love Me Tonight
    Surrender

those sprung to mind straight away...yes i have probably missed a few

    Then theres -
    70's
Fol Old times sake ( very under-rated and Out Of This World on my opinion )
    What now my love
    Its Midnight
Its Easy for you ( Jungle Room Sessions )
    For the good times

    and finally -
    50's
    Don't ask me why
I need you so ( absolute class )
    Love Me
    Loving You

I could go on.....but that will do for now.

Man...i haven't seen that lp set for years....would have made a great cd release i reckon

Take a listen to the first two discs of the 60's Masters ... it is amazing the amount of quality tracks and ballads(apart from a few exceptions)
    in no particular order:
    Millionth & last time
    Thats someone you'll never forget
    Never Ending
    Starting Today
    Gently
    Echoes of love
    I met her today ...

and I have not mentioned a single "big" hit(for Elvis that is)

I think that It?s Easy For You was a highlight of his 76 sessions! Maybe the second best song which he recorded in his home studio. 1st - For The Heart, 2nd - It?s Easy For You; 3rd - Hurt!
    (Blackmore - Gillan - Glover - Lord - Paice)
    Sweet child in time
    you?ll see the line
    line that?s drawn between
    good and bad
    see the blind man
    shooting at the world
    bullets flying taking toll
    If you?ve been a bad
oh Lord I bet you have
    and you?ve not been hit
    by flying led
    you?d better close your eyes
you?d better bow your head and
    wait for the ricochet

    - Lyrics of most beautiful song in rock music ever!!!

No ones picked "In The Ghetto" yet.

I have to agree that I think "It's Easy For You" is a great underated track.
Loved it the first time I played the Moody Blue album.

Just look at theses lists: one artist, one genre and still so many types of songs and sounds. How many artists can say that? I mean, Sinatra sung tons of ballads, but sounded almost always the same.

Just Pretend is brilliant, even my 15 year old daughter loves this song. He sang so many great ballads it's impossible to list them all. Like the CD, EP was "Second to None".
