ill apologise in advance to non uk residents for this post.did anybody watch t.o.t.p. last night.what a let down,the king is NO.1 and all you get is 10 seconds of the WRONG VERSION of jailhouse rock played over a few pictures,is this the best B.M.G or E.P.E can do.to me this shows how much US the REAL fans are valued,this was a great piece of promotion by somebody,because they knew WE would buy the singles and it woudnt cost them apenny in promotion.Sorry for this rant but i had to get it off my chest.IT still gives me a buzz tho to see the KING back where he belongs

Do you know that 10minute long commercials for that 'best of Elvis' set from Timelife?

If BMG really wanted, they could easily made something simular for the Elvisclips. They can mix liveversions/clips/pictures together to make a nice 2 minute (!) clip.

I was looking forward to seeing top of the pops and what do we get but 10 seconds of a few Elvis photos. What an insult to us fans. I was very Even if they could not have got permission to show the clip from the film. I would have been pleased to have seen the 68 specials version.I blame EPE for this they own the rights to the comeback

Yeah guys I know what you mean I got myself all excited watching the countdown TOTP have really disappointed me its a shame I mean Elvis is No1! and its fantastic! but it seems to me folks that they were more interested in the boyband "busted" splitting up than to play our idols song..what i did is I ran up the stairs turned my cd player on and played Jailhouse Rock with the volume way up loud and it helped me control my anger and disappointment lol

I just got a email from Top of the pops:As you may be aware,we have been denied the right to show footage of Elvis Presley on screen.It's a real shame that we won't beable to celebrate the 1000th no 1 exactly as it deserves to be,but we do have something special planned. Thanks EPE

I think since EPE lost a law suit against Sid Shaw of Elvisly Yours - they have gone out of their way to make it difficult for the British to use any Elvis. They seem to NOT SEE THE BIG PICTURE.... I wish they would remove the bug that died up their a** and start giving permission for what is essentailly an Elvis milestone. Get a life EPE ! Give permission where it is warrented and stop playing GOD! Maybe Sillerman will try to promote E in the right way or anyway that gets him a return on his investment anyway! We'll see.....

Well, Sky News were playing plenty of the 68' Comeback Special DVD last Sunday, they even played over a minute of Jailhouse Rock going into the ads, with the presenter saying - "Lets just listen to the voice, they dont make them like that anymore."

So, EPE don't appear to have a thing against England! I'd say it is this. On Sky News, they advertised the DVD Box Set, saying it was from BMG and available at such and such a price. they had the banner at the end for about 10 seconds of each clip.

What I think, is that TOTP were asked to do this and refused. I severley doubt EPE just said NO! Wouldent make sense, they want to market Elvis, and having him on prime time TV to a younger audience is the way to go about it. However, I do feel that if TOTP were not prepared to advertise it with a mention on a banner at the end, that EPE should have still allowed them show it, as, it was for Elvis' benefit. I know EPE is a business, but Elvis is a phenomenen and must be allowed to enjoy his enduring legacy.

I have been thinking though, while EPE own the rights, BMG distrubted the DVD, maye it's BMG who insisted on it being advertised. We don't really know what happened, but I'm just guessing that is what happened. I think maybe BMG are more responsible for this than EPE.

BMG have done NO advertising for this, Elvis is yet again selling himself, and not being allowed reach his potential as they have not pressed enough singles, and they have no intention of pressing anymore. The single is sold before it even gets on the shelves in shops. Shops are literally SOLD OUT before 9:00am Monday!

Still, congratulations Elvis, as A Fool Such as I is set to be your 21st UK Number 1, well done E.
