Are the times, where a new concert is a highlight are long over?

Many go enthusiasm about the new releases from FTD, cause the shows from 1974 are unpublished and 1969 is always a Winner. Sorry, but for me, this is only partially! Certainly, a concert from 1969 is always fantastic to have, but a so called highlight? These times are over. We got so many of this concerts now in our collection.

Once, the CD is immediately heard to complain about technical errors. Then it comes into the safe and be barely heard. The argument of the same songs and jokes in a season is for this poster true. Don’t understand me wrong. It is so good, that we Fans can collecting them all. But the times, where a concert is a Highlight and a new listening expirence are long over.

So, thinking about that, leads to my question: Are there any real live Highlights in the archives?

    1. Shows from February 1970 in full length, and finally with the opener All Shook Up!!!
    2. The Show of 1973, in which Elvis is dragging with a cold through his program!!!
    3. Dessert Storm - Elvis lost his way in the pain and sorrow!!!
    4. Las Vegas 1976 – Elvis talks and speaks and ... (“Are there a Tap dance group here?”)!!!
    5. The Last Farewell - it is real historical!!!

What still exist? What a real Highlights for you?

I have Desert Storm, and while I find it amusing, I would hate to think 'non' fans got to hear his OTT ramblings.

Desert Storm was a bootleg release, I don't think it should be officially released, FTD or not.
We know he was in a bad place, thats why I can listen to it, understand why he was annoyed etc....but take it for what it is,and not judge him.

Yes, you are right with this. But we have concerts on FTD (1976) that are also show him in bad place. And what about "Elvis In Concert"? It was a TV-Show and must come as a Classic-Album. But he is so ill and it hurts. I think "Dessert Storm" is historical and so the Fans become a Chance to get it.

It does not matter if the soundboard concerts are considered "highlights" or run of the mill because the sad truth is these soundboards are all that remains by Elvis Presley that has anything new no matter how slight the differences in concerts.......
Remixes are mechanically changed existing tracks which have no input from Elvis'...some outtakes have moments of new tempos attempts, new vocal phrasing etc...so no matter how all of this is looked at-its all that is left.

To a hardened and lifelong fan of Elvis, I suppose there isn't much to look forward to. Luckily for me, that isn't the case. The clips, soundboards and alternate takes that many people have seen and heard a hundred times before, are fresh as a daisy to me.

So for people like us, a lot can be considered highlights. I'm still working through sets I received for Christmas, plus I have a good few concerts that I have yet to listen to, but even ones that are not too good, I can still enjoy to a degree.
