NEW ALOHA BOOK IS ALMOST HERE! New Artwork

Not long to go now before this great book is finally released!

As an Aloha connoisseur this will be an essential purchase for me and it will make a great companion piece to the big FTD book "Fashion For A King" which which I bought last year.

A new image was released this week and the book looks like it will be truly stunnning.

Last year I bought my Fashion For A King book from the OEPFC UK. I'm hoping that they will also be stocking this Aloha book when it is released.

    Isn't he a bit expensive?

Essentialelvis and Elvisshoplondon are selling this for £64.99

What is the link for the UK Elvis Fan club? I can't get it to come up in my search....

    Nevermind, I found it.

Also, that artwork is the same artwork that has been around ever since the book has been announced.

me too Jen......he looks amazing, I personally think he does a wide range of songs...dont know why some fans knock this concert. He was very nervous, on a tight time schedule...not time for messing about, just there to get 'the job done'....and did it he did

I agree he was very nervous, did the best he could and I for one think he did great. I do have to admit the rehearsal show is better only because he is not as nervous. I always try to imagine if I was watching it that day in 73.

Today we know all of the other songs he was singing around that time, back then people didn't know what songs he was singing unless you were going to all of his shows. It wasn't like he was on TV performing. So by now you have heard all of the other shows he was doing in that period and would rather hear some of those songs not the ones HE chose to do. I think he chose songs that he had an emotional connection to and to show off his 3 range octave voice.

Re: NEW ALOHA BOOK IS ALMOST HERE! New Artwork

I watched the show when it was broadcast for the US in 73 and it was a very exciting time. The show was a slight letdown for me because of seeing TTWII, EOT and expecting a little more physicality to his performance....but vocally he was superb - top form.
I thought the selection of songs was perfect he did blues, country, pop old hits new hits-if you count "American Trilogy" as gospel in tone-he covered all the bases that formed Rock.
We had a thread long ago about the significance of his selection for Aloha... to the time period in his life with divorce and personal changes....I have always felt the songs he was doing during this time frame did have a huge emotional connection to his own life.
Elvis felt those songs inside-he had failed in his personal life with divorce...and it was on every movie mag, Enquirer type rag etc...divorce (back in the day)-was not as casual in tone as it is today (people seem to change partners like socks) it was considered a personal failure for both people-unfortunately Elvis had it played out before the world. Had to affect his life and his choice of songs IMO

agree Ken, must have been very difficult trying to carry on as normal when the worlds spotlight is watching you....and when he was known as such a sex symbol it had to be a severe knock to his ego.

The packaging looks fantastic! The original cover design looked great but I always wondered why they used a photo of Elvis when he was heavier than the more recent one for the Aloha show. The lack of imagination for the record sleeve could have also used an actual photo of Elvis in Hawaii instead of using a photo of him from a previous concert and super imposing it over a current group shot of the Hawaiian ladies.

Why? It's simple. All record sleeves/designs were apparently chosen way ahead of time by RCA/Colonel Parker.
