What are you reading now? (Elvis books and...)

Just as the music thread, lets do a book thread, Elvis books, what are you reading now? Maybe expand it to other books as well? Or the last Elvis book you read.

I am reading (two books) at the moment:
    - Elvis by those who knew him best - Rose Clayton and Dick Heard
    - Inner Elvis - Peter Whitmer.

The actual last Elvis book I read was EWH, but I was bought Last Train to Memphis and Careless Love, which I haven't even cracked the spines of yet. The last book non Elvis related was Nemesis by Frank Miller.

I've always loved reading even when I was young....just don't seem to get the time to settle down with a good book these days. I've tonnes of Elvis books, most of which I've read. However, I have about 10 books I've not got round to yet, passed them to my Mum she's told me bits and bobs about them.....

you need to read both of Guralnick's books Jen, they are the ultimate bio books on him....very detailed, you'll have to read them over to get all the nitty gritty details to sink in

I'd like to be reading a couple of Elvis books but I don't have the finances to get them and my Mom is upset because I want them

I'm thirty-six years old and my Mom continually argues with me about buying these kinds of books! My God, it could be a LOT worse! Instead of buying picture books, I could be out in the street doing something illegal! I'm so PO'd this morning I could chew nails!

No offence, but why should your mum care what you spend your money on?

    I'm reading a non-Elvis book..

It's called: To Selena, With Love by Chris Perez. I like it so far, but it's a little sad.

Elvis and me by Priscilla Presley. One of my favorite Elvis books of all time next to Guralnicks two volume Biography.

By Those WHo Knew Him Best-excellent book.. many many childhood stories by people who were there.
Very good information about Elvis' medical problems and flaws in his personality.
    Goldmine of info.

I got a little burned out on the all the Elvis books I was reading, so I began reading Elvis fiction. there's a LOT of Elvis books out there. the fiction I've read so far is 50/50 - good and horrible. Wow! The trouble with reading fiction and being an Elvis fan is that I'm always yelling at the author - Elvis NEVER did that - You *****!
The last book I read - Suspicious Minds. One of the better Elvis fiction. Detective/mystery and yes more than a few errors. But still very entertaining. An excellent "concert" scene - written so well that I had to play some Elvis music as I read it.

Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go

I am currently reading The Illuminati by Larry Burkett.

The story begins in the year 2015. The Illuminati has succeeded in placing one of their own people in the office of the presidency of the United States. With the worldwide launch of a financial system known as Data-Net, they have gained seemingly unlimited power.

I'm not even a quarter of the way in yet, but it's very interesting in light of recent political revelations.

I loved "Elvis, By Those Who Knew Him Best". It's one of my favorites books on Elvis because it's great to read not so common stories about his personal life. The problem with the other books of this kind is that you always read the same old ones, but this book is different.
