What should be the follow up to Prince From Another Planet?

Seeing at how Sony works, it's pretty obvious that they will keep the cash cow going with a follow up box set either this year or next year. They followed up the success of Young Man With A Big Beat with the popular Prince From Another Planet. Since 2014 marks the 45th anniversary of the American Sound sessions, I'm thinking that's the next big project to cover. Those recordings haven't been given the proper upgrade. With 2014 being the 60th anniversary of his first recording That's All Right, I think a compilation album of Memphis-based recordings, a mixture of classics and hits would be a good commercial release.

We need less of the original 'hits' being released and more of the 'lesser known gems'.

I second that......how are they going to attract newbies without giving people something to think about that they havnt heard before. There's so many songs to choose from........

I like that order...except swap "Pledging My Love" for "Way Down" in the track order since "Way Down" was #1 on the charts at the time of his death.

Tony, I included Pledging My Love since it was the flip side of Way Down and #1 on the country charts. But I could drop it, and add another Stax track to balance out the sessions. So here's the newly revised list.

Yes, a Made in Memphis Anthology would be most welcome.

Make it a triple album (CD1 & CD2 with essential masters From Sun Studio to the Jungle Room & don't forget some cuts from Live on Stage in Memphis, CD3 with rare, rehearsal and undubbed tracks from same sessions, like Suspicious Minds undubbed would always be a must) put that in a real handsome package (like Young Man With...), get Greil Marcus or someone of the like to write some good notes about Elvis and the music city of Memphis, add a 45rpm of Mystery Train original Sun single replica, and you got a killer box set!

PFAP has not done very well, they botched it.
As I commented in another thread, the $5 Afternoon in the Garden that sells nearly half a million in the 2 year leadup to the 40th anniversary, the lack of real promotion for the PFAP and not making sure the chain stores have plenty in stock....and now I see a "40th Anniversary MSG set in Walmart" that has the original album and the Afternoon show for $11.99-without the DVD a Legacy release???
PFAP might have been a huge seller-but it was marketed horridly.
Now the $11.99 Legacy will continue to cut into PFAP sales....and I have yet to see a PFAP in any of the Walmarts or Target in our area-a total of 6 stores.
So I understand a company needing to make a profit-I understand the reissues and repackaging....business is business-but this MSG situation was not good business -it is shooting yourself in the foot.
Whatever they come up with-I hope more "long range thought" will be put into it....that sells.
    Work in Progress!

Agree with you, Young Man With the Big Beat was handled much better, and although more expensive, in the long run it will prove more succesful. PFAP is great! but the marketing was lousy.
