Professional take: I'll hold you in my heart (no Elvis imp.)

    Hey everybody!
A while ago I had posted some informal recordings, meaning these were made with relatively sparse preparation and effort. In other words: just for fun!

Now I’ve made a recording to offer some contrast. The tune is very old; it once featured in a western movie ("Song Of The Drifter", 1948 - Jimmy Wakely as singer / actor).
I had to hear out the melody in order to make the guitar solo. I approximately tried up to 40 takes to reach this level. It’s hard to describe under which conditions an artist has to work...

Anyway, I’ve selected this version. Others are more expressive (before anyone throws the word EMOTION at me) or visually appealing, perhaps, but this one was the cleanest. Nowadays, being able to play the rhythm guitar seems to have become very important. It seems sometimes people don’t even care about clean singing...

Fabian, it is very nice to hear your version of the Elvis song.
It's a good idea for those who also sing Elvis for 'self'
    I really like it!!
    BRAVOOOOO!!

It's good to get some feedback! Hope you enjoyed the guitar playing and solo. You could browse my youtube page, in case you would like to hear more expressive versions.
Normally this problem is solved by simultaneously using different microphones for the vocal and instrumental part. But, in that case, some sweetheart would have to buy me recording equipment and a studio.

Thank you for listening, even if it's hard to understand because of that Austrian/German/Russian accent!

Where's the YouTube info? I'll check it out and let you know if you're crap . Have you looked into krafftwerk yet? You would find it child's play.

Well, you could search by name (Fabian Blondel) or just visit the page http://www.youtube.com/user/TheyCall...n?feature=mhee ..
Not all recordings are "professional" and the further you go back, the more primitive (they are; ellipsis, ling., stylistic device in literature).

And yes, I do know Kraftwerk, but was unsure whether it meant the Autobahn-music or something else. It is often so that words are taken over in foreign languages, with a different meaning associated with them (for example: "handy" is the word for mobile,- or cell phone in German). It is likewise hard to comprehend what you mean if you use words such as angst or zeitgeist.

I've watched quite a few of the 42 or 44 that you've got listed. Can't remember which Conway Twitty one you did, but that was pretty good and your accent is very easy to understand. You're talented for sure. I can play piano to an extent but my right hand is dominant and I can't keep it away from where the left is supposed to be, if that makes sense.

Well, thank you! That must have been "Hello Darlin' " or "You've never been this far before", which is quite an erotic tune. The latter is somewhat more refined, the first rather messy. But even messy attempts can be a lot of fun from the perspective of the performer.
Other comments I've heard regarding these recordings were "very country" and "soothing".

You've made me happy with your comments.

I guess that, if your right hand is dominant, you could find a piece which is meant only for the left hand. These should be in existence, as a part of learning exercises.
And if you cross your arms / hands and try to play, how does it feel?

Sweet, I'm glad you're happy, but would it kill you to smile in your videos?
It was You've Never Been This Far Before, I like your voice in it. You sing quite low and it is quite soothing. What else do you like playing and singing?

I've never been able to play like you, but I can play by ear. I broke my fingers years ago and the sensational left in my ring finger feels weird, so doing anything like typing or mucking around on a keyboard using both hands feels unnatural to me now. You know how people cross their fingers for luck? I can do that with my ring finger over my middle finger and pull it down to the knuckle without touching it. It's pretty sick.

No, that wouldn't kill me (smiling). Did I by any chance make a sad impression? My opinion is that no smile is better than a fake smile. Still pondering what could make me so happy that it would show.
Most songs are at the slower / softer end of the range. In rock songs I've had some difficulty in getting the recording right (too much "kggh"). And yes, I do like them. There are songs I could believe in and songs I couldn't believe in. Romantic longing is essential to most country ballads and it seems to work out well.
It is difficult to judge to what degree your playing is impaired (as it is hard to imagine how you cross your fingers and move them towards your knuckles). In some cases, injuries force people to develop something others lack (Django Reinhardt). I would have to meet you in person in order to say something useful about your hands. You could try to practice approximately 5 to 10 minutes each day, specifically aiming at your weakness, as continuity is most effective in solving fundamental problems or challenges such as learning a foreign language. As had been mentioned before, I would have to meet you in person in order to come up with the right practice.

Well, Evi.. I envy you too, so we envy each other.. And that you love the piano - it shows in your avatar! Would love to introduce the instrument to you, the same way I would like to know more about making a portrait. Before you know it, you have countless of Billies all over the place..

It tooks years of stretching and manipulation, but the tip of my ring finger touches my index knuckle, which is slightly displaced. It's very difficult to explain the feeling left in certain fingers on my hand, but it is unpleasant. On certain days I strap them up. So you could say my ability is impaired to a degree, but old habits are hard to break and to use fingers that will just start annoying me when they're touched isn't an option anymore.

A sad impression? No, but I actually laughed during that Conway Twitty rendition, especially the bom bom bom bit. Don't ask why, I'm just a giggler by nature, but I liked it for the reasons I've already stated.

Okay, now I have a clearer understanding of what you can do with your hands. It's very difficult if they are causing you pain, of course. Even so, there are piano teachers who can get the best out of their students even if they are elderly or suffer from rheumatism. Guess it wouldn't be any different in your case.

Yes, I'm still happy you liked my cover of Conway Twitty's tune. For some reason, that song was like love at first sight.. But now you have got me wondering what makes you laugh.. What is it, that we always feel or think things we can not quite explain?

Love you both, Snake Eyes and Evi. You don't even seem to mind how sick my music and person are, just take me for what I am..
