Do my eyes deceive me or is that Billy Idol at 1:04 - 1:06 in the audience? Also Bruce Springstein in there. Didn't like it though, sorry KPM.

I just liked the way they interspersed the 2 songs-the timing of the mix was absolutely perfect-and IMO that is rare in these homemade combos.
Elvis was more in the background I admit but I think it was well made and well timed.
The Pretty Woman used was indeed from the Black and White Night Orbison special done a little while before he die.......a slew of stars were his backup including Springstein and the other connection to Elvis featured in that special is Ronnie Tutt, James Burton, Jerry Sheff and Glen Hardin who made up the basic backup for Orbison.
Since Elvis loved Roy and Roy loved Elvis I think it was a nice blend-Elvis himself did not feel he had to be front and center on everything he did and hated when mixes on his music did exactly that.
Whom ever did this probably was a Roy fan, but wanted Elvis in the eclectic mix of stars who were actually involved in the original special....and worked him in as best he could....still keeping the basic structure tight and timed...well done IMO.

I did see Ronnie Tutt but didn't "see" that he was meant to be in the Roy performance if that makes sense. Is it Billy Idol in the audience? I've never seen this Roy Orbison special before.

Yes Ronnie Tutt is in the Orbison special-but he and the TCB band were nearly 20 years older when the Orbison special took place in 1988....and they are all in the Elvis TTWII clips used for the video.
James Burton actually trades lead riffs with Springstein, Orbison and the others.....the audience was comprised of many stars so Idol may have been in it.
If you have never seen the Black and White night special...it is an amazing aray of artists who take backup roles for the special. Bruce Springsteen, T-Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, Mike Utley, Tom Waits plus all star male and female backup trios. The female backups are Bonnie Raitt, Jennifer Warnes and k.d. Lang - Jackson Browne leads the male trio.

The one thing I noticed about this video combining Pretty Woman and Polk Salad is how much Elvis stands out even though he is not the center of the show-he is edited in... but his charisma and magnetism are head and shoulders above all the top rate talent featured.
He jumps like electricity each time his image pops up.

Never a truer word spoken. I'll be perfectly honest with you as I've never seen this special I was unaware as to who was actually in it. Back in 1988 when this occurred, I was into a totally different music genre and artists like Orbison, Bruce and Costello and even Elvis were never on my playlist. Olivers Army for instance was and still is a fantastic song, just not something I was listening to with any frequency back then.

You know, you could've torn me a new one with my indifference and blindness to the special and stars involved, yet you didn't, instead you very graciously informed me on something I know very little about

Again i dont know what you mean combining the two you just hear Elvis call out to the band a few times and pop up in the video a few times . Sorry i dont get what you find so good about it . I have the black and white night dvd and love it but i dont get the point of this . Elvis part is pointless .

Re: Roy Orbison/Elvis Pretty Woman/Polk Salad video

Well my friend the timing of anything Elvis does vocally or physically is exactly precisely on the money-considering how different the 2 songs are it amazes me that they could be combined in any way shape or form......perhaps to you that is not worthy of note...but to me considering the many myriad of videos that are thrown together with little coherency of action and sound-this one just amazes me.
I noted that Elvis is not central-but he is added in a very effective way, his charisma stands above the rest with little time on screen, so IMO, that makes a statement to anyone who may view it who does not usually see Elvis...... and as I pointed out the TCB band is central to the core of the Orbison special.......so there were Elvis connections
I can not answer for what the point was by the fan who put this together-but what I got out of it was it took a lot of time effort and imagination to combine the 2 songs and performances in any form-and this was done well....and it highlighted why ELVIS is ELVIS- his lack of screen time did not keep him from stealing the moment in this video by his charisma...how can that be anything but good?
But lets not forget one of the truest things ever said, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"... worth... meaning... and beauty are all subjective to each person.

I enjoyed this combining of Elvis and Roy. I thought the two videos meshed together very well. Thank you Ken.
