Of all the TV appearances Elvis made, best vocal?

As we know, Elvis had many brilliant tv moments, where his vocals were out of this world. What song stands out to you?

If I Can Dream is an obvious choice, but I'm going to say Peace In The Valley from the Sullivan show, ranks among my top choices.

Both Trilogy performances from Hawaii were amazing! Can't choose a favorite Tommy!

I would go with I Was The One from Stage Show '56, Memories and If I Can Dream from '68, What Now My Love in Hawaii, My Way and How Great Thou Art from Elvis In Concert. It is simply impossible to choose only one...

The Sinatra Tv Special, is way underrated if we are talking about vocal performance, his voice was velvet like in 1960 but still with all the rough edge of the 50's if he wanted. And he simply, even with the tuxedo, looked just perfect.

But anyway, the '68 special is for sure the best vocal performane on tv to me: If I Can Dream, Trying To Get To You, Trouble/Guitar Man. Nothing can beat that. Not even Elvis.

Any version of "you've lost that loving feeling" simply breath taking. Trilogy (Aloha) always perfect and agree with King of the Whole World with "what now my love". There are so many more but my first choice is always my first choice.

Elvis never did You,ve Lost That Loving Feeling on tv but my fav would be Stuck On You and Fame & Fortune from the Sinatra show . Maybe its just because it shows us what could have been in the early to mid 60s if not for the dumb movies .

Its such a shame that he didn't went on TV anymore around that era, he was truly superb vocally and phisically around '60-'62. Yes, the movies supposedly made up for that, but with a few exceptions, the songs he did and the format in which he did them wasn't that great.

It would have been amazing to have seen him doing the '60-'62 Nashville stuff backed with the same dudes that backed him on studio on a Live TV formar just as it happened on the Sinatra show, or back in the 50's on the Ed Sullivan shows. His post army era would not be that underrated among the non fans if the world had seeing him doing that and not just the silly movies, as he was really in top shape and there were actually great material in those nashville sessions to do it live.

That' been said, yes, the Sinatra TV performances are really a gem to me, and they don't get enough attention!!! YEP Fame and Fortune was a killer performance even if the song wasn't that memorable.

    So here it is:

And there was nothing wrong with Stuck on You, although many doesn't seem to like much that track, well if you don't like it, dig the hair

Totally agree with you on this!
I am not even sure how many songs Elvis performed on this special, I did to get a dvd copy of these performances. I personally love the polished, mature new Elvis in the tux.

Now that I'm watching the Sinatra Show again, there's something great about the duet, not many people liked Elvis "leaving behind his hard rocker image", but he acomplished the imposible: he beats Sinatara in his own game and with a simple thing, 100% more charm and a natural beautiful voice. Oh and again, great hair (to bad he had it cut very short until '68). Anyway sorry Frank.

By the way check the alternate ending at the end of this clip, very rare:

Re: Of all the TV appearances Elvis made, best vocal?

By the way here's the FULL show, as many probably have only seen the Elvis bits. Fun to watch just to get the feel of how it was. Again talking about vocal performances, just check out the very first moment when we hear him sing, it didn't matter Sinatra was there, he blew everybody out of his way the very fist moment he opens his mouth, and with that unique charm of his, I can't only get mad of how they wasted his talent in those movies during that great era for him.

    And continues here:

P.S. Sorry I didn't want to make of this a Sinatra TV show thread! lol
