Great Little Richard Cover but I think very underrated beside Beatles cover Elvis version much better Paul seems very challenging...

Well some how Beatles version has become the definitive one, just like Elvis version of Perkin's Blue Suede Shoes.

Little Richard original is still Rhythm & Blues, Boogie Woogie, Elvis is basically the coolest Rockabilly ever, still so Sun sounding, love it! Pat Boone is crap (sorry), and The Beatles, they finally did the Rock and Roll version of it.

I have to be honest and say that I love The Beatles version the most. (I'm ready, kick me on the knees), and I don't care much about Little Richard original in this case (Ok shoot me in the head). But certanly Elvis 50's Studio version is fantastic and way underrated. You don't hear it much right? Elvis vocals are tremendous, same for the band, this is one of the songs he sang live from '56 until the mid 70's so he might have liked it a lot. Yet somehow, you have to surrender to Paul vocals and George solo, those are The Bealtes to me, even Elvis stated that that was their period he liked the most, back in the days when they did straight raw rock and roll.

Pat Boones version was such a joke, laughable if anyone was obvious about taking R&B and scrubbing it squeaky white clean it was Pat.
Richards original version was hard driving and jumped.
Elvis's Sun version was hard, driving and it had a wink in it-like to say-man this is fun.
The Beatles version was as raw sounding as Englishman could make it-and Paul really screamed out those lyrics.
Toss up to me between the Sun sound and Pauls screaming lyrics.

I'm going to have to disagree, Hey Jude IS the worse cover that Elvis did. Some covers I just don't like because I never liked the original songs and even Elvis can't save them, but Hey Jude tops that list IMO.

Because it isn't very good.

I think it's because Elvis' version isn't raucous as some of the other versions.

I hear you now, and yes, I've always believe that to, and its because is not raucous enough why I prefer the Beatles on this one.

Yet I should not consider it a bad one, I think its great as it does not duplicate the original, but makes something else of it, as I said, Little Richard is Hot R&B to me (not rock and roll), while Elvis version is all rockabilly, and we know he could perfect red hot R&B, so his choice of doing something else with it its a great thing to me (and it proves again he was not copying neither stealing anything right?), and it sounds good, its well crafted and performed by Elvis and the band, so I wouldn't call it a bad one (Hey Jude by Elvis was poorly performed and crafted, that was a lousy one, it wasn't even released at the time, until RCA made that '72 leftovers album)

I guess its just that by late '56 rockabilly was a bit in the past, and we wanted Elvis to transform that R&B number into wild frenetic rock and roll, like what he did with Hound Dog, it all changed after Hound Dog I guess, it was bye bye Sun Rockabilly. But well, he choosed something else for this one, for old times sake maybe.

There are a few more that i didn't think were very good but i can't recall them right now.
