Another Stanley book is to be made into a feature about "Growing up in Graceland"
It is suppose to be a positive film about how Elvis treated the Stanleys and helped them grow up in his home.

I am almost certain that this never makes it to theaters. This is David's second attempt to get a movie made. The last one was a flop and went straight to dvd. So will this one. Just another example of one of those money starving hangerons.![]()

Check out my new blog about Elvis Presley @ http://elvis21century.blogspot.com/
I saw the first film being sold for $1 dollar in a dollar store. Perhaps he thinks a positive spin on his years growing up at Graceland will be a better vehicle (moneymaker)

When oh when are we going to have a big budget ,quality film about the biggest music star of all time . Insted of the cheap low quality rubbish or tv movies we have always got . We have had The Doors , Ray ( Ray Charles ) , La Bamba ( Ritchie Valens ) , Walk The Line ( Johnny Cash ) , Great Balls Of Fire ( Jerry Lee Lewis ) and The Jolson Story , The Glen Miller Story . All great artists but no where near as successful or loved as Elvis . Even the ones that are being discussed now are not a proper look at the life of Elvis such as Walk The Line Or Ray but about when he met Nixon for example . God the mans legacy deserves one good telling .
The guys that you mentioned have only had one or two movies about them, Elvis on the other hand has had countless movies and tv programs made about him. I guess they feel that there are so many movies out there about Elvis, why should they make another.
I remember how Lisa was talking about how she would like to make a movie on her father. She wanted to give the movie the care and love that it deserves. Hopefully soon this will happen, it seems Lisa is trying to become a little more involved now.

I would love to see a movie about Elvis produced by Lisa. I think we would get something very special there. I hope she does go through with it soon.
I agree a quality big budget film is due-but IMO the main problem is finding the actor who can fill the chrismatic shoes of Elvis Presley.
Producers have to know how critical we fans are of things done in his name-and they may feel that its just too big a task......finding the balance in the script, getting clearances on the music and likeness, and finally getting an actor who can "become" Elvis that will give creedance to the film.

Yes that is true but the one film made about them where worth all the Elvis films put together and im afraid you are missing my point . Yes there have been a few about Elvis but they were all low budget , low production value or made for tv . As for getting someone to play him i know its hard but i thought Kurt Russell was excellent , so if they try hard enough there is an actor out there that could do him justice . Dont know if id like Lisa producing a film on Elvis . For although it would be done with a lot of love i dont want to see a film thats a whitewash .
It might be me, but I sometimes get the feeling most of the levers of power are done through Priscilla, whilst Priscilla is alive there will be restrictions in how Elvis is portrayed. When Lisa has carte blanch I'm sure she will be able to set the record straight without having to worry about mother. Lisa knows that a white wash just wouldn't reflect the mass evidence already out there. The movie made about Johnny Cash was hardly worts and all, although it didn't gloss over either, a good balance was found. I'm sure the same can be done for Elvis.
this came across in the interview with Tom Brown......he kept having to say....."and Lisa.....blah, blah, blah"....because Cilla was answering all the time and Lisa sits back and lets her

All David ever did in my opinon was put Elvis down.....and shed a very dim-light on him.I have heard him say some positive things.......yet most are negative in my thoughts. So no go for me on this one too.
