Art work for PRINCE FROM ANOTHER PLANET
Although the actual box set isn't available til September 28 (Europe) and October 2nd (USA), the promotion for PRINCE LIKE ANOTHER PLANET - the Madison Square Garden Package has already begun. While the set looks FANTASTIC, one thing I have noticed from this flyer is that they are advertising the DVD has having "key footage from historic MSG press conference". So judging from this statement, I am guessing that once again we are not going to get the ENTIRE MSG press conference???
One has to wonder...if it turns out to be true and we only are getting excerpts from the press conference, why won't they release the whole thing? Was the whole thing not recorded? Has some of the footage deteriorated over the years and is no longer usable? If this is supposed to be the ultimate release for the 40th anniversary, then why wouldn't they release the entire press conference...especially considering Elvis press conferences are so rare to begin with and this one is one of, if not THE most recognizable ones that he ever held in his career!
Guess we'll have to see...but it does raise some questions...

I sure hope that Sony doesn't cut any corners and use black and white still shots for the album packaging, especially the front cover. Talk about cheap.I'll still be buying though no matter how it looks or what the naysayers may think of the sound mixes. I've waited over 30 years for this to come out remixed and finally I will have it. That is, assuming I don't die before October 2.

U know i got the same feeling in my bones, a B&W package ! although sometimes it can work, i think this set deserves colour ?
No my friend I do not jump to conclusions-when I have proper rest.
I read, I discern, I "investigate" whatever post "anyone" posts that is unknown, or something "out of the norm" of what most know about Elvis or his legacy. Such as the baseball player-I wondered if it were complete fact or rumor.....I investigated.
IF anyone had posted that tidbit other than you I still would have "investigated"
From time to time in everyones posts there are "implyed meanings" that when taken within the context of the subjects facts or rumors, that are easily seen and the implication is there..........if its there- I question or investigate that implication.
The subject of the Disney deal with EPE for a tv channel of all Elvis or Elvis related in some way-IF anyone other than you had posted it-I would have "investigated it" because that rumor is nearing 20 years old... back to when Disney had the rights to both TV specials and put them out on VHS and was running them on their channnel. Its not who posts what its about what is posted-as I said TCB has a pretty good rep for trying to make sure posts are accurate about Elvis his life, his career, his legacy and all things related to him.
I have been here a while-love the forum, and love that TCB is a place where if you post it-"prove it"......or condition your posts so everyone knows this is not for certain-I have been challenged many times about something I posted with the question-"Where did that come from?"
I always try to find or recall where I learned something-the book, website interview, website video TV show, TV interview, Tunzi, EPE, etc...
and when I can not-I tell people so. Never have I been put off or upset because someone questions my posts-why should I....on the Internet everyone has the right to be skeptical...about 10 years ago I read in the St Louis Post that as much as 70% of websites on virtually any subject-had out and out lies or inaccuracies that tried to prove a point, make a statement or skew the truth. Thats a pretty hard thing to forget-and IMO no one should.
On this topic-the footage for the new MSG boxset-I just blew it-I had not been here much I tried to catch up quickly and missed some "important words" (words I fully "comprehend" during normal weeks with normal rest) if you check my 7000 plus posts-I do not do that often.
And.........my mom is better this week, might go home soon...but she is battling emphysema and congestive heart failure.

I know what you mean...I've waited a LONG time for a remastered MSG CD as well!! I've always said the original MSG show is one of my favorite concerts, but I seldom listen to it simply because of the poor sound quality! Let's just hope the remastering that has been done lives up to all of the hype!!!

My first record player was a small 12 by 12 inch suitcase that folded up with a handle.....the speaker was on one side and the about 2 by 2 inches.....I guess thats why remastered music is not as important to me-I like a better sound like everyone, but if you spent time listening to your vinyl records on a 12 by 12 portable record player for a couple of years...you'd see why my first adult stereo with 2 speakers (and a couple of small tweeters) seemed like the ultimate in sound to me. I today have a system which allows me to play my vinyl albums thru a surround sound....but am still happy listening on a normal everyday system.
Same with large screen tvs, DVDs, Blueray, VHS, etc...my first view of "black and white" TV was on a huge piece of wood furniture that had about a 12 inch screenit was more coffee table than TV, my step dad rented a color set in very early 60s to watch "Bonanza" in color (the only show in color if I recall) and we thought we were something.
I truely believe that forcing people into the next "big thing" is more about creating profit than better products. I am a hard sell I guess![]()

Well this is much more about a new mix rather than better sound which is another story, although of course second must be included. But yes of course its about profit, I hope it does well in that are so this drift of new cool products on the mainstream label last a few years to come.
I hear ya my friend, I also remember the old 45 rpm records, still enjoy these little gems, put out a lot of bass, in a small package.Still have all my 45 rpm's as well as all my LP's.
A small box with a huge sound.
Sorry about Ricky Nelson, but this gives you an excellent example of this little record player.![]()
Although I do like some of Ricky Nelson's recordings.
