It must have affected him to sing Separate Ways, something he should have done during his 1972 tour. My cousin told me he remembered hearing it on the radio as much as Burning Love. Maybe since Red West wrote it for him it was a double whammy cause not only is it one of his best friends song but I think this song is too close to what happened as well.
