Question What music did Elvis listen to?

IŽd like to know what Elvis listened to. If possible, IŽd like to know everything he listened to. Is there maybe a list of all records he owned in 1977? IŽd like to know this because today I heard a song someone recorded in 1971 and I was wondering if he ever heard it.

I do not know for sure what was in his record collection in 77, but he liked all kinds of music.
A good way to judge what he listened to is to look at the covers he did in the 70s He did "Snowbird" on Elvis Country-that was a big hit for Anne Murray and he liked her voice, he did "Let Me Be There" a hit for Olivia Newton John, he did "Its Easy For You" a song by broadway music giants Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice so he must have liked some of their Broadway compositions, he did "Never Been to Spain" a huge hit for the group 3 Dog Night, "Proud Mary" by Creedance Clearwater Revival (who was greatly influenced by the music of Elvis) etc..........

One song we know he expressed interest in was "Feelings" which was worked on a little during the Graceland recording sessions, so far no release of any kind of that song if it exists on tape.

I know he liked Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Tom Jones, Jerry Reed, but as far as 1970s music I think he went by "songs he heard on the radio that he liked more than artists on radio he liked"
Such as "Your Mama Dont Dance" which he added to his rock medley in the mid 70s-he probably had no idea who did the song but liked it and wanted to add it into the medley.

The song I heard was a song called "Without you" that someone recorded in 1971. And I wonder if Elvis ever heard it, and if he did hear it, if he liked it.

I cant live....if livin is without you.......I cant live..cant live anymore.........?
    Is that the song?
If it is it was recorded by Harry Nilsson and was a pretty big hit worldwide so Elvis probably heard that song.
Whether he liked it is a guess but IMO it sounds like the type song Elvis may have liked.

Re: What music did Elvis listen to?

I do have several songs I would have loved to hear Elvis sing from the 70s:
"Heartache Tonight" done by the Eagles
"Slow Hand" done by the Pointer Sisters and also country star Conway Twitty
"Lay Lady Lay" done by Bob Dylan
"Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" done by Hollies
"Sunday Morning Coming Down" done by Johnny Cash written by Kris Kristofferson
