Thread: Elvis and Marilyn Monroe

    Re: Elvis and Marilyn Monroe

It never happened, its a spun yarn that has only this gentlemans word.
Even the way he tells it does not sound true......IE..... they had never met but immedialty began kissing....then headed to the bedroom.....later they came out of the bedroom totally naked.....come on Viva do you really believe this???
Lets look at the 5 bios I have on MM-none mention any Elvis connection. None of the Elvis books I have mention any connection.
Now lets look at the time she was making "Some Like it Hot" she was a couple months pregnant and was so mentally out of it most of the time that she would not show up for her scenes, and then when she made it to the set...she sat in her trailer making everyone wait for hours (according to Curtis and Lemmon) She eventually miscarriaged and the filming was slow-her life was already a total mess at the time-she did not need added "fantasy confusion"
Her life is as documented as Elvis and nothing supports this fairy tale.
But lets look at what we do know about Elvis and his taste in woman:
Liked younger woman of less experience......does MM fit that description?
MM had many affairs, open and secret, was married several times to people like award winning egg head author Arthur Miller, and one of the greatest ballplayers of all time Joe Dimaggio both very urban and sophisticated men.
MM was a woman of vast sexual experience-yet 21 year old Elvis(who just 2 years before was a truck driver) was confident enough in his stature in Hollywood, (and presumptive enough) to feel that MM was interested in him?
If you thought Natalie Wood felt that Elvis was not very much fun because he was not up to her level of sophistication -(and indeed she told many people just that) then believing that MM would see it different is pretty much of a stretch.
Elvis admitted to those around him that he was not comfortable around "big Hollywood" the only reason he felt a little more comfortable around Natalie was Nick Addams helped with the meeting and because she was young (although in Hollywood "young" has a different meaning compared to Memphis which is why there was a "generation gap" of sorts between them)
This idea is fantasy....sure we can never know the truth for 100% sure-but it lacks credulity on all levels-chances of truth-one half of one percent.

The highlighted part was enough. We will never know so don't claim it never happened without proof.

No the highlighted part is the part you want to believe so "you chose to highlight it"
You always tend to believe these odd, off the wall unsubstantiated allegations....

I gave what most lawyers would call a very substantial basis for proving this did not happen.
Most people close to both people-deny it happened who have commented.

Some of you are just going by gut instinct and word of the almighty Mafia and not by real possibilities. According to this Marilyn Monroe collector site, this is what was said about them possibly meeting.

    Did Marilyn know Elvis?

Although there was never any public relationship or meeting between the two super-stars, it seems likely that Marilyn and Elvis did meet at some point. There is evidence that a written correspondance was carried on between them. http://www.marilyncollector.com/legend/faq.html#Elvis

My whole point for the thread to begin with was to show the video of the pictorial similarities between the two. Not to debate whether or not they met. IMO, I don't know if they met or not. Neither do any of you. It is very possible that a meeting of some kind did occur. It could have been just by phone or in person but in private. We all know that Elvis loved his privacy and it's possible that he didn't want it to get out at the time. The Mafia might have been there but Elvis didn't tell them everything. There are some things that he didn't trust them with and at times would tell his maids and cooks private things that he wouldn't tell the guys.

Its true many people make things up to help their project or to try and drum up a deal for a book....but very few people leave things out.
The thing about this is-you can not surmise that just because "it could have happened with no one knowing" about it-that that makes it any more likely that it did.
Elvis was not alone for much of his public life-sure he was alone in the bathroom and when he had a lady with him in his bedroom....but those ladies had to go from the front door of whatever building Elvis was in to that bedroom door... IE Graceland, hotel rooms, suites in Vegas, Palm Springs etc.
Elvis had "guys who handled the front doors", those guys were around in shifts pretty much 24/7 since Elvis became "ELVIS" they all talk of women who came through the front doors.....Ann Margret, Tuesday Weld, Woods, etc....its in their books and they speak of it in interviews...one of the closest to Elvis cousin, Billy Smith, has never said any encounter took place between these 2, even Lamar Fike who was with Elvis back to the fifties and whom would include any tidbit that would help him sell his product in his books interviews videos etc....never pulled this "magical rabbit" out of his hat of tricks....
She was too old, too sophisticated, too busy and crazy at that time of her life.....and unfortunately the fact is she was attracted to men of maturity, sophistication and power from the moment she went from Norma Jean to Marilyn -and in 56 Elvis was many great things.. talented, charismatic, hottest property in the music world-but he was not mature and sophisticated.
Just did not happen.... by all credible reports and evidence about the two individuals which shows a difference of night and day.

You explain things so very well, Ken, so sensibly.

LOL, I was reading on the link supplied, that Byron said that Elvis said Marilyn was "too tall" lol, she was, I read, 5'5", lol, Byron likes his ridiculous fantasies.

Marilyn, I think, may have gone out with the men who oggled her, to help her career.

Elvis was a handsome, intelligent, sensibly aware of the world around him, younger man, with the world at his feet.

I read your link, thank you, and read what it said from "Marilyn collector". Who is Marilyn Collector, did she know Elvis, or Marilyn?

This is what your link said:

    "Did Marilyn know Elvis?

The evidence, would be good to see. This is someone's opinion, the general public, from what I understand.

I really am not concerned, if Elvis met her and had fun, yeah! This, for me, isn't a point of concern. I hope he did meet her, for her sake, she needed to know some decent people.

It's no different than some of the "gurus" at FECC or other Elvis forums claiming they knew what kind of underwear he wore.

    From the Marilyn collector site:

Not very conclusive proof-....it seems likely.......and then no corroborating evidence of the "likely meeting"
    Same with:
There is evidence that a written correspondance was carried on between them.......???
Fine- what evidence?-let someone see it so they can judge if it indeed is some "legitimate" proof of "written correspondance" between the two.

Marty Lacker and (rip) Lamar Fike have always been my least favorite MM. I think they are such *****s and they by association make Elvis look like he was a pervert (which I don't think he was) and an dumb redneck (which I am certain he was not).
