Yes the potential-that is great news.
Oprah is struggling with her OWN network-that may cause some to "pause" before leaping.
Remember when I told you guys of my source hearing of a private discussion between a EPE representative and Disney about a potential TV Network? Well, I was reading a news article from the Wall Street Journal and stumbled upon this little interesting tibit from Core Media Group (formerly CKX) and their near future plans.
“We’re looking at acquiring companies,” Graboff said. “They’ll be mostly focused in the television production space. Most of the focus is in non-fiction TV, primarily cable but not exclusively non-fiction and not exclusively cable.
He declined to disclose specifics on those deals other than saying that they will be announced shortly.”
One thing that got my attention in that piece was the part about "potential to buying up networks". Most of the time, when a company enters into the television market they buy up a network or low rated channel with the intensions to remodel it with newer or revamped programming and renaming it, NBC did this with Versus which is now the NBC Sports Network. Oprah Winfrey (Elvis' distant cousin) did the same thing with her OWN network by that name. Now, time will tell if this becomes Elvis-based property or not, but it's lining up to possibly be the beginning of a dream-come-true Elvis-themed cable or Satellite network that I told you guys about a while back.
The actual article though IS Elvis related. http://blogs.wsj.com/privateequity/2...9s-core-media/
And Ken, before you try and debunk or spin it to be another negative or gloomy outlook, this does NOT mean that it will or will not be an Elvis channel or network in the future. All I am simply pointing out is the POTENTIAL of the possibility. It could even become Core Media Group's own network built around it's individual properties like Elvis, Ali, IDOL, 19 Entertainment artists and So You Think You Can Dance show. An entertainment network.
And another thing, even though Core and EPE do NOT own the movie rights, a financial arrangement could be reached to profit both MGM and Core/EPE should one be considered for material IF it were to be for an Elvis network or programming by Core. Also, with more than a dozen artists under 19 Ent. Core could put live concert events on the network. Live programming is very cheap and less expensive when you do not need commercial space. I could see them doing a network like the HD NET.

Work in Progress!
I knew when Oprah launched the OWN network that it was going to fail or struggle. Her network is 1 dimensional and caters to a certain group of viewers. With an Elvis channel it would appeal to all races, religions, ages, and both genders. Elvis is universal. Oprah doesn't have that type of appeal. Plus, it would allow Core Media Group to promote Elvis and advertise Graceland at a rapid rate. That alone could entice millions of new visitors over a short time period and in the process create millions of new fans. Especially if it's a cable network where viewers do not have to request or pay extra for it.

Well regardless time will tell on this.....the rumor on Disney/EPE has been around for years with no movement....it disappeared them magically was resurrected when the Sillerman announcement came about-and then disappeared again...so time has rolled on....
I have never had faith in the idea of an all Elvis network-for reasons I have shown (many times) but the idea of more Core artists being included would possibly be better... except for one major drawback-Elvis would then become one of a group of artists-and for many that may signal a step down from his "historic and iconic status in music as an artist" young people just may see him as "just part of the crowd of artists" and that would not be good or positive for his image as "one of a kind, one who truely sold the rock revolution to the world"
So hopefully whoever is looking to this idea-will think it through carefully and slowly.
But since this was only 2 paragraphs of information-in a story basically about the "hologram Elvis" and since the writer could get no further info from Core later when contacted-the smart thing is to "wait and see" what if anything this means for Elvis's legacy and promotion.
Work in Progress!
That would be fantastic. I bought Sirius radio for my car just so I can listen to Elvis radio, so I can see people subscribing to an only Elvis channel. Maybe they would finally play all the cool interviews, old concerts, rehearsals, and home video I keep stumbling across on youtube.
