Morbid Question

This may be a morbid question, but it's one we all have to face someday. What plans do you have for all your Elvis stuff when you pass on?
It's something that has been on my mind just lately. I guess my daughters will probably sell a lot of it off.
I know of a woman who threw her Mother's Shirley Temple collection in the rubbish because she couldn't be bother with the hassle of selling it all. She was probably sitting on a small fortune.

I'll be leaving it to my little girl, she loves Elvis too. I haven't the heart to tell her he's no longer around, she likes to get in my bed and watch the films, she has exceptional taste, just like her mum.

Definitely leave everything I have of Elvis to my daughter and son. They will be free to keep or sell, give away etc. as they please.

I don't really have anything of huge value. It means more to me than someone would pay for, so after I'm gone I would understand if it was given away or sold.

I have mostly music and videos..... a few things, a Menu from the Hilton in 72, a couple of photo books sold at concerts, old scrapbooks from my teenage years, my 60 plus books about him (among about 1000 books in general) etc.....I'll let them pick what they want amonst them after I'm gone-if no one wants any of it-I hope they sell it or give it to someone who will appreciate it.

My partner knows not to throw it out, we talked about it. They will most likely keep the stuff they bought me, they may even keep a large chunk of it as it is such a part of me. I guess the rest will be either sold or given to other fans.

I am 65, and I know how you feel. I am currently selling my whole Elvis collection on Ebid.com. I am going all digital with Elvis. I am a bit of a computer geek. So I scanned all my LPs...45rps...EP...etc. So I have all the images of my collection to enhance my MP3 collection of Elvis. All the books are getting old and I would rather a new fan appreciate my stuff. Going digital has made it possible to more Elvis than I could have ever imagined. With out the bulk. A traditional collection takes up a lot of room. And you have to bear the responsibly of caring for it. I back up all my Cover art and music to a second hard drive for safe keeping. It's not morbid to think about the inevitably, just smart. If you believe in God, think of the beautiful sound in heaven with Elvis and all the other Rock N Rollers in the chorus. Certainly not a morbid question Cliff...it is indeed something we all have to face at some point.

My ideal answer would be that I am leaving my collection to my kids when I pass on...unfortunately as much as I have tried, none of my 3 kids have any real interest in Elvis. (I know...it should be a crime, but I digress...)

My second choice would be to leave some of my more prized items to some of my Elvis friends...only trouble with that idea is that most of my Elvis friends are older than I am, so conventional wisdom would suggest they might not be around when something happens to me.

So I really don't know what I am going to do with all of my Elvis items...right now it's written in my will that everything is divided up between my living family members which is the traditional way of doing things I guess...just hate the thought of them selling everything I've spent my entire life collecting. Oh well, I guess it won't matter to me as I won't be here to see them sell everything, and if they can use the money, I guess it's all worth it...

My aunt was a huge Elvis fan, I know a large bulk of her collection was given to charity and the remainder was sent to my uncle in Australia. I do feel it's a shame that we couldn't share our admiration of Elvis before she passed.

Agree with you Nicole. Since my wife and I didn't plan to have any children and don't have any already I will also let some other fan have it.Make somebody else happy.That's nce.
