    Always on my mind

Hi everyone, sorry if this has been asked before but.................

Did Elvis ever perform Always on my Mind live? Can't remember if it was on Elvis by The Presleys, but I have heard Priscilla say something along the lines "Elvis never dedicated songs, but he mouthed "this ones for you" before singing Always on my mind.

Is is true, is it out there live?

    I don't know about that particular song........unlikely

He did dedicate 'Its Midnight' to Cilla at a concert

I never heard him singing the song live, so I donīt think so.

    Re: Always on my mind

www.elvisconcerts.com doesn't show the song as a 'live' search on it's database

    Re: Always on my mind

Elvis never did the song live as it was too emotional and hit too close to home for him. However, he did rehearse it for the NY Garden shows in 1972 but decided not to include it into his show.

So there is a possibility of a full live rehearsal of the song available? Seems a shame this was never performed live as it's such a great song and one that everyone can relate to.

    Thanks for the help

I think what you are referring to is 'I Can't Stop Loving You' - I believe this was the song he sang for her in that occasion you mentioned.

'Always on my mind', though, has never been performed live by Elvis...

Or maybe she meant It's Midnight which he would say "listen Cilla" knowing she was in the crowd at the Hilton.

Didn't knew that. Where did you get that info about the N.Y. rehearsal?

It is probably Its Midnight-I have heard a Vegas show where he did say "listen Cilla"
So once again we have an item of agreement.

I have also never heard about that song being rehearsed for the NYC shows.
Forums post a lot of things but if they are not sourced it does not mean they are factual.
Did any of these posts at other forums say where the info came from? Then it can be traced-checked.

Yep, that's what I knew, and that's what I thought... beyond the March 1972 sessions, Elvis never even rehearsed the song.

By the way, woudn't be cool if some of those rehearsals tapes will surface for this year anniversary?

    It sure would.
I e-mailed Mr Flynn and asked where he got the info for his rehearsal lists and if they were suspected of being recorded in some form he said his lists came from research and people like Ernst Jorgenson who found differing notes on rehearsals, interviews with people at the rehearsals.....musicians, support people etc...he said no tapes have been found so far but it is always hoped that some exist in private hands since many times the rehearsals were recorded by musicians or Elvis's guys to listen to when working up new songs. Lets hope.
