I think the old footage with that lovely Hawaiian lady alongside the exotic Hawaii background added a lot to the presentation of the song.

I think the old footage with that lovely Hawaiian lady alongside the exotic Hawaii background added a lot to the presentation of the song.
The only song I love from this late session is Early Morning Rain which is beautiful.

The raw footage is my favourite. Of course I like the other ones too.

Hmmm...I've never really thought about it before...
While the original footage with the dancer is nice, it seems a little too "busy" for me sometimes, especially with the small shots of Elvis in the corners and the Hawaiian footage in the main frames. So I guess I'd have to vote for one of the other two...probably just the zoom in footage is my favorite since the raw footage doesn't show anything other than him just standing there.

Anytime I see a beautiful Hawaiian woman, I melt. Going with that one. That's again Erhan for your efforts!
For me, I like the video with the Hawaiian background. It really adds to all of the songs, IMHO.

I like the raw footage best.
Having a zoom in on Elvis' face does not add anythong to the song. The beautiful scenery of Hawaii along with the lovely Hawaiian dancer adds so much mor eto the visual enjoyment of the concert.
Agree i go for the last one the new version which zoomed in on elvis the other angle i never really cared for it is great for diffrent angle edits. but it doesnt show elvis really clear either. The hawai girl version is a bit to busy, i think they should have add more elvis instead of in the corner, because as u all know the main part of this concert was about elvis in hawaii not about the hawaiian girls. I prefered Blue Hawaii, No More Ku-u-ipo & Early morning rain over the studio version. its showned a bit more sincerity
I thought the raw footage was very interesting and helped to explain some comments made by Ernst Jorgensen in "Life in Music". He talks about the Aloha performances, rehearsal and actual concert, in a way I have never heard anyone discuss before. When I was a
kid I thought that Aloha great but now after viewing TTWII, 68 special, on tour, fan concert footage, and home videos, I think this is certainly not Elvis at his best. He seems very tired and there is something in his eyes that says he does not seem to be having a great time. In "Life in Music" Jorgensen comments regarding the performance,"Yet to astute observer there was something strangely distant about the performer at the center of the storm. Watching "Aloha" is like watching Elvis Presley through a stained glass window or a badly focused pair of binoculars. The sparkle in his eyes, the natural grace of movement, the joy that was visible back in 1970, they seemed to be missing."
Does anyone else have a different take on the raw footage and concerts?
I voted for the Old Footage, but I don't care for the young blonde girl at the bottom. I do love the Hawaiian girl dancing - to me it just fits. Like Elvis is singing with the images of the island going thru his head.
Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go
