Ive only ever seen bits of this show but it never looked like half the effort went into this show that went into The Beatles Love show . It always looked tacky and cheap to me , compared to that show which always shone with class . Just as the albums of the two shows showed a totally different effort . The Love album was classy and showed the amount of work and yes Love ( if you will excuse the pun ) that went into it . Viva Elvis on the other hand seemed rushed , with not half the effort and was certainly not value for money . Im not surpriesed its going .

I think the fact that it took so long to open-delay after delay then after it opened the constant news of "tweaking" with the production showed that no matter how much they tried-they could not get a true handle on how to bring the excitement and talent of Elvis into the show format.

I fully agree. It's the same with trying to find somebody to portray Elvis in a motion picture. Virtually impossible.

While the news is disappointing, I do not think it reflects on Elvis' popularity declining in any way. What it means is many things,

1.High ticket prices in a bad economy. People aren't spending like they used to, especially in Vegas where casinos are shutting down due to lack of business.

2.Poor production and arrangement. The VE show was doomed from the start due to lack of creativity. CDS is known for acrobats not dance theatrical productions. Once they ventured away from their style and tried to do something new and different, it was a disaster waiting to happen.

3.Bad location. Whiel the location along the famous strip is ideal, the resort location wasn't. City Center is for the very rich and the show is said to be aimed at the fans. This is why both the show and the Aria is struggling. People don't have the money to spend there. The show should have been housed at the MGM Grand or somewhere else. The $4 billion City Center, like VE, is destined for failure due to poor planning. It's close to bankruptcy after just 2 years of business.

But, VE isn't the only CDS show in danger. Chris Angel's show is the lowest rated show on the strip and it remains to be opened. That can't continue. The new Michael Jackson show looks awesome, but it too is struggling to sell tickets leading up to its opening next week. It was scheduled to be like VE with a 10-year deal. But now it's only going to be at Mandalay bay for 4 weeks then shut down. It's a bad economy and Elvis was pulled in at the wrong time.
