cant wait to see this Eric Bana is a good actor, I just hope he could pull it out together as : Elvis![]()
Eric Bana, a fellow Aussie, is very talented. Just look at how he changed himself into the `Chopper' Read character.
This incident is one of the quirky tales from Elvis folklore and could make the basis for a good movie. I liked the sense of humour in the TV version and have high hopes for this one

While I am absolutely THRILLED that an Elvis movie is being considered by Hollywood (proving, as mentioned in previous posts, that Hollywood is indeed interested in Elvis), I have two questions about this project...
One...why is such a finite moment in Elvis' career being considered for a full length feature film?? Yes, it was obviously an important and historical moment in Elvis and Richard Nixon's respective careers, but let's face it...this trip to meet Nixon was more or less a whim on Elvis' part. This wasn't some great big planned event that was months or years in the making, thus giving the story some "backstory" to tell. Elvis decided he wanted to meet Nixon and he made it happen. Historical...absolutely! But is there enough story to tell to make this worthy of a full feature movie??
Two...I'm curious about something...when an Elvis project is being considered and an actor is needed to portray Elvis, is there a team of people who come up with the most unlikely actors that could play Elvis and then they put their names up on a dartboard and throw a dart to determine who they will pick?? Because that is how this whole process feels...YET AGAIN!!!! I mean let's face it...Don Johnson, Johnathan Rhys-Meyers, Dale Midkiff and now Eric Bana?? Nothing against Eric Bana...I've seen some of his work and he is a fine actor...but he's about as far away from Elvis as you could possibly get!! Apparently Jack Nicholson was too busy to play Elvis??
I just don't get it...but if this movie is actually being sanctioned by EPE in any way shape or form, then I never will get it.

I think they got confused with the movie role. He was supposed to be in the movie about, Corey Feldman.

BUT SERIOUSLY,
I know it's really hard to pick an Actor to play Elvis. They want someone who could act to make it a great movie but at the same time they have to look like Elvis. I sometimes think the latter gets 100% ignored, then they want either an Unknown but some Elvis Tribute Artist' might look and sing like Elvis but the acting is a whole other planet. Elvis was able to master both.
I like to think I'm looking at Elvis at some point in the movie![]()
It's an impossible task finding anybody to portray him. That being said, maybe Eric will do a good and believable job, lets hope!
there's only 1 Elvis......................
"NO-ONE, BUT NO-ONE,IS HIS EQUAL, OR EVER WILL BE. HE WAS, AND IS SUPREME".Mick Jagger
.....and that's the problem. No one can portrait him accurately........![]()
That's true, and as Diane said, no one can portray him accurately...but Kurt Russell did one heck of a job in ELVIS and Michael St. Gerard did a wonderful job portraying Elvis in the sadly cancelled ABC T.V. series. So those casting decisions prove that finding someone to portray Elvis in a REALISTIC way IS possible!!!
And again, I'm not bashing Eric Bana by any stretch of the imagination here. As I said, I've seen some of his stuff and he is a very talented actor...but I just don't think he is the right call for a feature length movie about Elvis. Maybe we'll all be proven wrong and someday Bana will be listed in the same sentence as Russell and St. Gerard in terms of portraying Elvis...but right now, I just can't see that happening...

Kurt Russell and Michael St. Gerard both did a passable job of it, but I still didn't feel like I was watching Elvis.
I agree that no one can ever replace Elvis, but I was just pointing out that of all the actors to portray Elvis, I think Michael St. Gerard and Kurt Russell are the two actors who were the closest thing to actually watching Elvis.

I have to confess I didn't knew that guy at all and 2nd he doesn't really look that much like Elvis so even if the movie would turn out fine, while watching it my brain would be busy to remind myself that the guy is supposed to be Elvis. I'd rather have no movie than another bad one![]()
I have seen the 1st "Elvis And Nixon" movie and that was the worst what they ever made about him! It was simply ridiculous... And it was far away from reality I think. I felt it ridiculed not only Elvis but the ex-president too. I didn't like the way as the movie showed them. I don't understand either why they need another movie about this now.
