A Kings Bouquet- By Patricia Garber (Something for us girls!)

I wrote this piece, imagining what it might have been like to have met Elvis in those early years before his name was known around the globe. When folks struggled to understand where that name might have even come from anyway. After all, who named their kid Elvis? It seemed even his name hinted to the originality that was yet to come. -----------------------------------------------A KINGS BOUQUET--------------------------------------------------

He prowls his territory like a panther, leaving a trail of masculinity in his wake. His crystal blue eyes scan the room, looking for the one who excites him with just a look. He knows she’s close. The ache in his body tells him that much. He doesn’t profess to understand the connection they share. He only knows that when the crowd is gone she’ll fill that lonely place in his heart. He only knows that he wants her, even needs her.

The room is chaos at full tilt, bustling with well- wishers and admirers alike. In the farthest courner of the room, surrounded by an uproar of commotion, she waits. She can hear the humming of conversation all around, but she doesn’t partake. The people flanking her are of no interest.

“He” is all she cares about. He's the reasons she’s here.

The room pulsates with an excitement, and all eyes, except her's, are keeping vigil. She sees no need to watch for his arrival. When he arrives the very core of what makes her a woman will sense him, that essence so distinguishable from all other men.

She smiles to herself, already imagining his arrival. Inspired by his own primal nature, he will spread his wings and display his mighty colors. She's keenly aware that other women feel the same erotic waves she feels. His energy is strong, his pull even stronger. This power confuses her and thrills her alike, but at some point even a lion needs rest. Eventually he’ll come to her, and when he does, she’ll be there. She’ll hold him close, but not too close. Want him to stay, but accepts that he won’t. He’s meant to be loved, not tamed.

When the air in the room stirs, a scent like that of a fresh spring rain encircles her. Instinctively she

stands up straighter, shoulders back and head up. And when a slow drawl sounds close, his voice wraps around her like a warm quilt and a gentle quiver coils through her body. She wants to turn, and submerge herself inside those deep blue pools of his, but she resists.

    Behind her, he smirks.

Though her back is to him, he can hear her rattled breath, see her flushed profile. She's working awfully hard to appear unmoved, he thought with a widdening smile, flashing a set of stunning dimples just over her shoulder.

Suddenly, her body flashes hot. Her hands quake at her side. She can feel his eyes burning, caressing her body. Struggling, she clinches her hands tighter, refusing to be like all the other awe struck women he’s use to. She’s keenly aware of his need to “run the show”. She’ll wait for him to make the first move.

He’s patient. He finds her restraint interesting, challenging, and her cornered circumstance arousing. His stomach is bouncing, his heart racing with the thrill of the hunt. Her scared-rabbit demeanor has him longing to grab her, and take what is rightfully his, if only for a night. But he won’t. Not just yet. Such pleasures are meant to be sampled, not hungrily devoured. For now he’ll admire her. Enjoy her like a long cool drink of water sipped slowly on a hot summer’s day.

As if his thoughts had reached out to her, the tiny hairs on the back of her neck pricked. Anxious, she starts a conversation with a woman whose name she’s already forgotten. The woman’s lips form words, but her eyes are fixed elsewhere. It’s understandable. The visiting Adonis is hard to ignore.

“I’ve been lookin’ for you all night.” His recognizable voice was velvety thick, and it burned its mark into her very bones.

The room muted. All around her people start to drift away as if pulled by an unseen force. Slowly, she turns, and their eyes lock, smiles flash, and two hearts simultaneously jump.

“I’ve been looking for you my whole life,” she purrs while easing into his arms. She draws closer, pressing deeper, and their hearts beat so closely, she believes they could be one.

A slow sensual smirk slips across his lips as he glances around the room, his arms tightening around her waist. “Honey, one night could last a life time,” he mutters, and then in looking down to her begins to nibble on his lower lip.

How erotic, how childlike yet not, she thought as her cheeks flush an even deeper red.

“I’ll take that as a yes,” he says before leaning in for the first kiss of the night.

Instantly, she was lost to lips as soft as silk. His tongue teased hers in a quick taste that left her weak. She wants more but he’s o-so careful. His control is frustrating and promising alike. And when he pulls away she quickly draws in a deep breath, savoring his unique fragrance—a Kings bouquet, so sweet and so forbidden.

“Now you’re mine…forever.” His words burn hot against her mouth.

She never doubted it, yet she still didn’t know his name.

Imagine you met and fell in love with your Guardian angel. Now, what if that angel turned out to be, Elvis Presley? Impossible, that's what Samantha Bennett thought before her life underwent a King-sized change. Join the angelic series that started with Eternal Flame, and more recently Dream Angel, written for Elvis fan's, by an Elvis fan. "Let's pretend he just didn't go together"~ Patricia Garber.
