What actors do you think would do a good job at potraying Elvis?

If another biopic was made which actors do you think would do a great job at portraying Elvis (any era), Colonel, Priscilla and all the other key people in his life?
I enjoyed Randy Quaid's job as the Colonel in the 2005 tv series and the dialogue between him and Johnathon Meyers who was playing Elvis. Not sure how close it was to Colonel's personality though. Johnathon I thought did a good job playing Elvis, but I thought the singing.... I mean lip syncing was a little overacted. The If I Can Dream sequence at the end I thought looked really goofy.

Some are going to kill me but I think Jonathan Rhys-Meyers did a great young Elvis, what was crappy and many bashed about it had to do more with the scrip not his performance, that regardless of his unfortunate comments on Elvis latter on. Yet, I said young Elvis, when he got to play a more mature Elvis on the '68 Comback special he didn't seem to have the dramatic skills to match Elvis intense character of the latter days. The If I Can Dream was most the syntomatic as he is far away from the actual drama of Elvis original performance, and he simply goofed it. Yet, he did great on the easy going 50's Elvis/ early 60's.

I think Johnny Depp would be a fantastic post '67 Elvis, but, its getting late, 5 years from now, and Johnny will be too old to play any Elvis.

Well. I think there's simply NOBODY who can portray Elvis in any way. There are very good actors, who can make you fall for the illusion for some quick moments. But there's just no one that can have the same intensity and raw energy that Elvis had. It's hard to find any actors today who are extremely vulnerable but also have an animalistic masculine vibe at the same time. For the defense of actors I think Kurt Russell did a decent job but it was lacking that dangerous power. Meyers overacted sometimes and looked simply gay. Elvis was made of a special kind of energy. That's what we are all attracted to. Hollywood waits for that particular energy. And one more very important thing: Elvis never took himself seriously. All actors who played him so far took themselves very seriously. That crazy and twisted sense of humour has never showed up in any films about him. Without this Elvis is not Elvis. Hollywood could make anyone look like Elvis. But it's not about the looks.

Id be tempted to look at people who already come close to Elvis, after all if u know the actor too much u just wont believe its Elvis at all.
Off the top of my head,

50s El/ Bouke [he sure can sing]
60s El/ ? not sure yet
70s El Shawn Klush [well hes got all the moves]

im sure in time i could find a 60s actor who could do it ...........

I thought Kirk Russell did a bang up job of portraying Elvis but that was how many years ago.As for today's young actor's,forget it!

In my mind there is no one in the past or present that can portray Elvis accurately. He was one of a kind and that is that.

I think Kurt Russell was the best, he did a great job and his respect was obvious. And the fact he played with Elvis as a child, gave a special magic to his movie.
