I saw him in Roadhouse - a few years ago now - and he is a pretty good actor. At the time I wasnt sure it was him or not as I hadnt realised he carried on acting. all in all he seems rather talented as I know he wrote songs too.
I just caught a few moments of this show last night which featured Red. If you are not familiar, Memphis Beat is a show on TNT starring Jason Lee which is based in Memphis. It is not uncommon for there to be Elvis references in the show and last night was no exception aside from just the inclusion of his bodyguard/songwriter/buddy. In the little bit I caught I saw an interview with Red who was in prison for murdering the main character's father many years prior and talk of a deal with perhaps some shady character of some Elvis prints. (I was in need of sleep so I'm light on details.)
They have some full episodes here http://www.tnt.tv/series/memphisbeat/ but last night's is not available yet. I have seen a few others though and from what I've seen, I would recommend the show.
It's pretty cool that Red continues to enjoy a career in acting and that he has Elvis to thank for it.
...you won't forget me when I go.

No matter how much the media likes to put Elvis down, he seems to crop up in the most unlikely places in favorable scenes whether it's through a commercial, a movie, a song or someone who was close to him. If he wasn't such a huge icon, this wouldn't happen either negatively or favorably. He's made an impact that will last for untold decades and I thank Red for doing it once again. Red is a pretty good actor in my opinion.
