Doesn't sound like this one offers anything that we haven't heard before from the import releases...or in any better sound quality either...

    Re: Stage Rehearsal

Ouch! This is what Oven had to say about this CD:

Out now, but first impression is not so good! The sound quality is great, but too many edits are evident. The most HOPELESS of all is the vocal edit on 'Polk Salad Annie' (Polk A Little Sock Salad'). You can still hear Elvis talking about "overweight little woman etc..., but it is only a bleed from other microphones. This vocal edit is utterly pathetic, really!! What's the harm!? FTD is obviously going for the old Parker - good clean fellow - philosophy! I'm embarresed by this, really.

Songs that are incomplete from start are patched together with a live take of the same song, with audience reaction and everything. And it do so NOT WORK. Most annoying is 'Something', but also two versions of 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' have lost their charm with the same opening sample on both takes... Ouch!! Can it be Vic Anesini who has butchered it like this?

Anyway, one of the most soughed for albums, has effectively been reduced to - only - a good sounding, but poorly produced CD. A shame!

Previously two songs from this event have been out, both 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' and 'Sweet Caroline' was first found on Elvis Aron Presley released in 1980. 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' was actually a spliced version of "take 1 and 2".

After the August 1970 rehearsal, some songs from 1972 and 1973 (also Las Vegas rehearsal) are added. All have been bootlegged, but the fidelity is slightly better here.

And what about the names he calls charlie- priceless i think it's a great release and the edits are something i can live without especially with this great sound quality.

THE SOUND IS DEFINETLY BETTER THAN WHAT WE GOT ON OL bilko hang loose , NO DOUBT SOME EDITS ON POLK WHERE HE PERFORMS THE DEEP THROAT EFFECT WITH THE MIC, and i was confused with the audience /applause added to just can't help believin, but i found this release a good one and i look forward to reading your review and other members views.

    Re: Stage Rehearsal

i forgot to mention that it sounds to me that there is an edit on patch it up - james solo sounds as if it is cut short , if this is so why would they do this it just doesn't make sense as the whole cd runs for just under 58 minutes . The art work is superb all pics ive seen/had before the inlay tray has thesame pic that i first seen on electryfying cd one great pic is from rehersal of E.P. with red shirt/belt on inside gatefold cover that i have never seen before , but i wouldn't buy this just for the artwork but for the great content.

I don't think a lot of this release and prefer 'ELECTRIFYING' On Bilko,
just my opinion i have played it 3 times now and cant change my mind on it.
But don't be put off, it might be to someone elses liking.

    Re: Stage Rehearsal

I expect mine in the mail this week. I'm still looking forward to it. All the TTWII rehearsal cd's have been a favorite of mine. I really dig the fun, loose ambience at those sessions (the On Tour and the 1974 rehearsals both seem to miss this).

Bilko's release was indeed a great one, just as Fort Baxter's 'Brightest Star On Sunset Boulevard vol 1 & 2'

It looks as if Ernst is either running out of good material or has simply lost touch with what the fans that buy FTD cds are wanting. I used to get excited about FTD releases when they first came out but have since lost interest. It'll take a makeover or a 180 to get me excited again. And believe me, I want to be.

    Re: Stage Rehearsal

Does it make you less excited knowing it's an easy to get FTD release?

I've always wondered if I would have been more excited if the same albums would have been released by import labels, instead of FTD? The fact that they're hard to get and spread over some more labels?
