i think there is probably an easy answer to this film was/is extremely expensive i think if they had the digital stuff like we do today then things might have been a little differentbut why no film?
do you ever tire of the same ol concert films or fan shot cine 8mm films being packaged with a new title and same ol stuff. I have often thought how crazy it is that parker didn't invest in some decent televison equipment or 16 mm cameras and have E.P. filmed, after all he apointed a official photog[yes i know for makin them tour booklets] but why no film?
I can't count all the historic missed opurtunities that should have bin filmed officialy , especialy in the 70's , things like the silverdome show in pontiac, the shows at the gardens, the houston shows etc... it is bad enough that his first show in 69 was not captured professionally, i think this shows us just how out of touch the colonel was . I really envy beatles fans as they have tons of great footage and it seems more and more keeps turning up, and all we get is the same ol clips, i mean look at the aloha release from years back they didn't even include the whole press confrence, they should have included all the press confrence from vegas and honalulu and what about the show that was filmed by japanese tv crew on the 17th . i imagine they have a copy of this along with the complete jc awards speech presentation[albeit short], instead we fans have to shell out good money for snipets of bad footage here and there [count mr tunzi among the hucksters] sorry guys and gals just my rant.

"I Just Want Them To Get The Best I Had" Elvis Presley
If Elvis had not died at 42, what should have been filmed would not matter as much.
Parker did not think filming concerts was important, only "contractual big paydays for filmed concerts"
When their was no contract which called for a film-he could have cared less, but even the Colonel did not know Elvis would die so young.
