What does General Flunky mean? Why was this Charlie Hodge's nickname. I have noticed that on the American broadcast of Aloha from Hawaii the General Flunky remark is edited out. Did Charlie ask the producers of the show to do this?.
I would take it to be that Charlie didnt have a "proper" set job with Elvis as it were. As in he wasnt an accountant, he wasnt a bodyguard, he was a general flunky who did anything Elvis wanted.
a bit unfair though, seeing as he was also a musician. maybe just meant as a joke though.
You ask how long I love you, I'll tell you true,
until the Twelfth of Never, I'll still be loving you

It was a joke,...... he many times also called Charlie the guy who sings harmony with me.
Charlie was on stage to take care of anything....scarves, water, guitar, taking gifts from the audience that were given to Elvis, and he did sing harmony and helped some with the music. Elvis was just having fun with Charlie....
Work in Progress!
Elvis wasn't saying General....like in military jargon, he was saying "In General, this guy does a bit of everything" General flunky...
