    New Spankox release 'Big Boots'

Each can have his own opinion about remixes, and I most certainly am not going to claim I know how Elvis would have felt about this one, but something that tells me he would not have been to happy with it. Let’s say more than likely very pissed. Certainly if you keep in mind how he felt about certain people tampering with his music when he was alive. And for sure, nobody could ever have done that like Spankox does!
Just listen to that awful beat. It just doesn’t match. Elvis’ voice is so distorted and messed up it sounds like a goat. It’s not only an insult. It’s an insult to Elvis’ good taste and lifelong effort to improve and perfect his performance to bring us the music that he wanted. That was his mission. That’s what he was trying to give us. Right till the very end. And this guy thinks he can break it all down? Just for his own purposes? Use it to his liking? Does he really think this adds something to Elvis’ music? I doubt it very much. It’s just personal gain. It’s just pure unleashed ego.
And what do you think about the press release that goes with it? It’s just the same thing as his last press release. Pure pompous propaganda. When it says things like ‘this seems to be sent directly by Elvis from Heaven to his fans’ or ‘it’s already generating rave reviews because of the exceptional clarity of the voice of the King’ may I please vomit? And of course ‘it’s all done respecting the essence of Elvis’ music.’ This guy has a lot of nerve. Is he an Elvis fan? Is he even a music fan? Of course, I shouldn’t be asking silly questions.
I am all for remixes if in some way they can add something to Elvis’ music. It’s already been proven that, although not easy, it can be done with great taste. But I would suggest if someone doesn‘t have the talent to do that, they should at least have the decency to stay off of it. Remixes are most certainly more than welcome because they offer a lot of opportunities. That has been discussed a lot of times before. But this is just downright pathetic. If everybody is allowed to remix Elvis’ music to their own liking and then throw it on the market for their own profit, I’m afraid this is going to be a huge problem. There are a lot of self-glorifying lunatics out there. First we had the imps, now we have this. And it’s all done as a tribute to the king!

Mr Spankox is the absolute best in using the wrong songs for remixing, listen to the x-mas album he did....wich he is sued for...
And again with this remix, it's the wrong song for remixing. But he can't work on the songs wich are better for remixing cause of the copyrights, so he he is stuck to the 50's and early sixties, most of those are the real Elvis classics and part of music history and you don't touch those!

I don't like Spankox at all. Maybe one or two songs (Love me and Don't be cruel) but nothing more. I think he remix the song so much that make it loose the essence. Just don't like it...
Maybe he's trying to innovate by using this (Big boots) song that may be consider as underrated, bue no. Won't convince me.

Spankox' remixes all sound so 90s with those weird special bubble effects.

This remix is one of his better ones. It's more than just a beat over the original track. I kinda like this one actually

    A) What a bad choice for a song.
    B) Is not a remix, its a karaoke overdub! Its sounds like that I mean.
    C) Time to move on Spankox. You got your shot using Elvis, allright, but now go and get your own name.

Spankox can't handle Elvis. He just can't. Others have proven they can. Even with 50's songs. If you don't have the talent or the means, then just don't do it. Elvis' music is about Elvis, not about whoever would like to remix him. If Spankox doesn't realise that, or anyone else for that matter, that just plain pretentious. He obviously overestimates himself and underestimates Elvis (He was a 1st class artist, remember?!). But let's not be naive, Spankox just doesn't care. He is just USING Elvis. All thing combined, certainly if you read his ludicrous press-releases, that is very clear. I hate to see what he will do to the rest of Elvis' repertiore ...

    And Albert, why????????
Seriously, what do you like about this remix? With all due respect, I would just like to know.

Spankox managed to make a fun upbeat song out of a horrible, sleepy song. Be honest: who puts on Big Boots for himself? I may have listened to the song when I was listening to the GI Blues soundtrack. The remix has a nice vibe and makes the dull original a fun song

    I still don't get it ...
Well, to be honest, the original version maybe is kinda dull, but listen to alternate fast version of the song. Now that's fun and upbeat! And Elvis' voice sounds great. In Spankox' version it's gravely distorted. That's what I call horrible. Very amateuristic.
The reason I'm all for remixes is that in some cases adding a nice beat and/or bassline or a maybe a whole new contemporary arrangement can be very welcome. But this beat doesn't work.
I do understand the using of the 'bubble' effect though. That's flushing Elvis' legacy down the toilet.
