I agree with both of you, too much meddling with the classics will eventually make them lose their originality and then all you have is a fake.
I think as well that when you listen to an Elvis song, say "Hound Dog" for example...part of the magic is that you`re listening to it pretty much as people did back in the `50s...it`s the same song that caused such a commotion and had such a huge success..it`s the same musicians, the same sound...it`s "Hound Dog" in its` purest form...it is rare that you can improve on something that original and that great, and you certainly can`t alter it without losing some part of the magic.
So,maybe if you do slow it down and add a thumping bass-line and an army of african drummers it might appeal to somebody somewhere in a way that it otherwise might not have...but then it isn`t "Hound Dog" any longer really.
I think that the great musicians and artists all understood that their music could not last forever,or be popular forever....they never expected it to.Just like Elvis learned from listening to all those great blues and gospel artists and became himself, then went on to influence those that came after him...and so on.. Everything changes and moves on...it has to or life would get pretty dull and uninteresting in no time.Trying to make a new Elvis is not going to work... all we can do really is make sure sure that the world remembers how great the real elvis is. Hope that makes a bit of sense to someone...!!

yeah an ok remix better than some of them i have heard but for me u can't beat the originals just a whole new era of music we r into now its all dance music n rap here in the charts but still think elvis could cut it in todays market wae good song choices .
Are these re-mixes available to buy?
Less of the dodgy 80`s guitar widdling would have helped.
