Earthquake

Just letting everyone know we've had a big earthquake here in Christchurch NZ. 7.4. Some damage to the roads and some buildings. The airport has closed. No reports of fatalities thank God.
I woke up this morning at around 4:40am (why do these things always happen in the early hours?) heard this rumble and next thing the whole house was shaking. My cd collection is on the floor. We're having aftershocks of 4.3. I'm lucky I still have power. A lot of people haven't.

This is really sad news Cliff. I seen it on my swedish television now. I read it on the text television so it feels so sad. but good that knowone get killd.

So sorry to hear this Cliff I'm glad that you and everyone has survived it, I hope the damage to the roads and buildings are repaired soon and the airport open, to everyone in Christchurch NZ

We are having an earthquake here at the moment. Real scary and a big one. My computer table is still swaying. I just wish it would stop.

I hope you and your home will stay in safe Cliff! You sure didn't lose your humour that you posted the song "Shakin' All Over". Let us know what's happening, keep us updated! Betti XXXXX

Thank you so much Betti. Right now we're still getting strong aftershocks . . . oops there's one now. What makes me angry is that there are people out there in their cars sightseeing. They're stupid. I'll keep you posted Betti. Thank again darlin'.

Oh my Cliff unfortunately i know about earthquakes....we have a lot of them here in Greece and especially in my hometown...Years ago a big earthquake happened and my house completely got destroyed and we had to live in tents and eat from cans for weeks among with others...10 people died then...it's a terrible feeling not knowing where to go and protect yourself , not knowing when the next one was going to come...or where your loved ones and family are...

Yes we have a few earthquakes here too, but this has been the big one that everyone has been waiting for. That is terrible what happened to you. I guess we are really blessed here. There are some people who have no power and water at the moment. My daughter is coming here to get some water. Some people's houses have shifted and it looks like they will lose them. The worst is the city centre. It look like a bomb has hit.
What has been a big help to me is Anna (Elvislina). I have been chatting to her on Facebook all morning.
I really do value all your messages of support. It bought a tear to my eye reading them. Thank you.

I'm holding my breath as I say this, but things seem to have settled down now. I pray this is the end of it. I don't think I will sleep tonight.I've been listening to people calling the radio station with their stories. It's heartbreaking to hear what has happened to some of them.

oh you need some sleep too Cliff. promise me that you getting some sleep too you need it. but I understand it most been heartbreaking to listen to them all and that people have lose their home and more. hope they all get some new houses and more soon.
