I like Lady Gaga and I think it's cool that she's getting matching horseshoe rings for her wedding. I wonder if this is to make up for what happened last month
According to news sources Lady Gaga is planning to wed boyfriend Luc Carl in New York and then travel to Europe for a five-day party. "They've ordered matching Elvis lucky horseshoe wedding rings - just like Elvis Presley had - because Luc is a huge fan."
A friend of the star reportedly told the magazine: "She's not going to spare any expense with this wedding and wants a Cirque du Soleil-style troupe, fireworks and every day of the wedding to have a different theme."
"She wants a seven-foot wedding cake which she plans to get Dita Von Teese to jump out of and perform a burlesque dance, and Sir Elton John to serenade them."

lady ga ga is Rubbish
which is why we should be glad when artists now say they are Elvis fans
I mean, I think Mylie Cyrus is a joke - but for her to say the only person she'd stand in line for was Elvis - imagine how many 12 year olds asked their mom for Elvis records!

I agree, it helps for Elvis not to be forgotten as the most fantastic and unique entertainer this world has ever seen and may never see his equal again.
This is Lagy Gaga trying to redeem herself after the rude comment she made to the Elvis fan mourning his death.
If two people decided to choose the rings as their wedding rings it would be a nice gesture towards Elvis, but here we have a 7 foot wedding cake,a circus troupe, fireworks,a burlesque babe in a cake and an Elton John serenade...you must be kidding me! This just ties Elvis name in with another load of tacky,over-the-top celebrity nonsense...would anyone be surprised to see a preacher in a jumpsuit?..I doubt it.
As for the people who might be new Elvis fans after this connection...to me that is just grasping at straws.. people will always discover Elvis, and more likely in the old-fashioned way of hearing his voice or seeing him on screen and feeling the magic of his charisma and his talent. There doesn`t seem to be much faith in those things anymore by a lot of people....Elvis fans will always be here and people will continue to become fans...without dressing Elvis up for some dance mix or savouring these silly connections to celebrities who people will have long forgotten in a few years.
That`s what I`d like to think.I`m just tired of people jumping up and down everytime that some celebrity mentions Elvis,or does something to connect their name with his, like it`s some great step in the door of the modern-day world. It`s understandable that we,as elvis fans, would like to see him in the charts and up there competing with todays stars...but that`s not really being very realistic is it? The world has changed a lot since 1977...even for Elvis it had changed a lot even before then, as it does anyway...new things replace the old things, styles change, music changes...Elvis himself knew that..as early as 1958 Elvis was thinking about this, wondering if he could still continue to popular, how long Rock`n`Roll itself would even last.
That same feeling that you first got when hearing Elvis or seeing his picture in a magazine or up there on the screen...that`s what will keep Elvis alive today..not all the hype,or the celebrity tie-ins,or anything that EPE devise to add to their money-making machine....it will still come down to somebody somewhere hearing that voice for the first time and going "Wow"...and I have no doubt in my mind that that`s what will continue to happen. We can`t expect the whole world to suddenly go Elvis-crazy...it already did. All we can do is hope that when the new fans discover Elvis the music and movies will be there for them,as they were for us and that they will get as much happiness from them as we have. Stop trying so hard to keep Elvis alive....like Diane said...Elvis stands on his own.
Well, all I can say is that when my sister was a teenager and her favorite heavy metal celebs talked about the music that influenced them, she went out and bought those artists too, usually becoming a direct fan of those, well, secondary purchases.
Lady Gaga has a huge following - I've never heard anything of hers, except for the Glee episode
so, if her comment makes young people curious about Elvis
it will be Elvis that turns them into Elvis fans - if at all
I also think that celebrities mentioning Elvis is a positive way is a cause to notice - first because these celebs are in our ranks of being Elvis fans
and like us, doing what they can to keep his legacy alive
so, why dump on another Elvis fan just because they are a celeb that you don't like?

I`ve no problem with people, celebrity or otherwise, having good things to say about Elvis...very often it does reflect well on the man and his memory. I just think that it`s a huge stretch of the imagination to consider something like this a "tribute"...and I think that it just contributes more to the whole image of Elvis as an over-the-top king of bling cartoon figure. Like it or not these things leave an impression on people..whether it`s the EPE ducks, the *****s in the $10 jumpsuits or whatever. This wasn`t (at least not to me) a small genuine token of respect for Elvis it was another glittery,celeb-trash moment in an event packed with them...and nobody will convince me that this stuff does Elvis any good. Why do you think that Sony are finding it so difficult to sell Elvis as an artist?....mainly because the left hand and right hand are fighting each other all the time....the tacky, cheap images and tie-ins are taking their toll.
Countless artists have spoken well of Elvis and it is always great to hear and I agree it does a great service in making people more aware of him and might lead to new fans...the thing is it was done with taste and respect, not just another pop-glam moment.
