How do you leave stress out?

This may sound silly, hahaha. I know, but here I'm trying to get new ways to leave the stress away. Any advice?

And "listening Elvis music" should be out of the list. I already do that, lol.

    Thanks.

Spend some of your free time with animals. Dog, horse, whatever. They are very relaxing, I find! x

Wendy dear friend, there a many ways to reduce stress. I am sorry you are having this trouble, it's an awful thing, I understand, we all have had stress in our lives at one time or another, including me. I hope these tips can help you.

Eat right and exercise, walking is good, to get out in the air, when you have a break from work, can you go outside for a short walk?

    Set realistic goals

Handle important tasks first and eliminate
    unessential tasks

Take a break and meditate to slow down
    "mind-racing"

Reduce the urge to be "perfect"

    Be flexible

    Avoid excessive competition

Reduce criticism of yourself and others

Don't stress when expectations are not met

    Manage your anger

Push away negativity of any kind

    Give yourself "me" time

Choose to keep quiet when you feel a
    negative reaction

Be cheerful, it deflates others stress and
    anxiety

    Silence your phone at night

Dab essential oils on your wrist to reminder
    yourself to relax

    Utilize relaxation techniques; Yoga, Meditation,
    Breathing, etc.

    Laugh and smile more often

Remember you can only change yourself

Wendy, you fight a cold. You bandage a cut. You get rid of a headache.

    Don't allow stress to build.

Don't allow stress to steal your joy.

When you feel stress coming on, push it away, do something to get your mine off of it, do something you enjoy.

Resist it. Fight back. Use whatever tools or stress relief tips that work for you, but
do not let stress take control of you my friend Wendy.

I am happy you come here to ask about this.

You are trying to do something about it, that's great news.

Good luck, and I hope you feel better and can learn to cope with stress in your life, you are such a good friend to me all these years, anytime you want to talk, please do.

    Keep on smiling dear friend.

As someone who has been under a monster amount of stress lately at work, that sounds like very sound advice to me. Thanks!

When you see stress coming...run the other way as fast as you can..spin around three times..throw up a ball.bark twice, catch it in your mouth...then keep on running until either you escape stress or you run into a coffee-shop. Nearly 40 years now...and it still works for me.

Re: How do you leave stress out?

I am currently very, very stressed. I sleep bad and feel sleepy (but still tensed) during the day. I know what to do to make me feel relaxed (non-stressed) by doing active things that make me forget why I am stressed, like watching a movie, play games with my friends or simple (but very nice things) like having a cup of coffee with my dad in town, or play with my nieces and nephew.

But those things are not a cure. I think that Tommy's advise is the best in the long run, but it needs more time and exercise. Most of the things that he listed do take the tension away quite rapidly, but you have to work on a solution for the source of your stress... i guess

Re: How do you leave stress out?

Thank you all for the advice. I don't drink alcohol... and can't drink coffee either.

I try to relax and have fun. If I watch a movie or listen to my fav music, I feel fine at that moment. But later, stress is back again. I've been working so hard on a project since many months ago. And it is not working well just because of the boss and the boss o my boss... Yeah, long story of a vicious circle. So I guess that besides stress what I feel is a terrible frustration.

Tommy's list the The List. Wow! I may print it and put it in the office. May share a pic with you all after that.

Thanks all again. Have a nice day! :]

Re: How do you leave stress out?

I think it also depends on what the source of the stress is - can you resolve the problem?

I'm finding that taking action to change the stressful situation is helping

A lot of times, stress is a sense of loss of control

so recognizing what you can change and what you can't can go a long way to resolving or accepting the situation - and reducing stress.

Thank you very much Wendy, if it's stress related to a job, and it's your bosses, all you can do is your very best, knowing this, should make you feel somewhat better.

Re: How do you leave stress out?

This is a very interesting reply. Guess the answer is no. I'm a very perfectionist person.
Situation is this: I work hard in gettin the project done because I know it will help others. But boss and the whole enterprise don't like that much. Anyhow, they say they "want to help others but not in that way". So the result is re-making the project over and over and over... It's going terribly slow (even though I have all prepared to be ready anad lauched). Feels like working for nothing.

And yes Tommy, you're right too. I feel fine because I'm doing my best. :] Just wish the whole thing would be complete.

Wendy - good luck, you've got a lot of friends here on your side.
Excellent advice Tommy, I'm cutting and pasting after I post this.

Wendy - chamomile tea! te' de Manzanilla! It took a long time to get use to it's taste, but it works.
