    A Tribute to Elvis

I would like to start a thread on tributes from other's towards Elvis.

This first one, I hadn't read before. It's very true.

    I too, love Elvis deeply

"I felt a responsibility toward him and toward the whole world, too. I felt that this is someone the world loves. I adored him beyond description, but I also felt so many other people loved him that I wanted to take care of him for everybody."

    Linda Thompson, in an interview

"Elvis was one of those individuals, when he sang a song, he just seemed to live every word of it. There's other people that have a voice that may be greater than Presley's but he had that certain something."

    Natalie Wood
Every morning when I woke up and looked out the window, there were at least two hundred kids lined up on the sidewalk outside, staring at the house. Some of them would stay there all day long, just trying to get a glimpse of him. And when he would go out, he was very sweet to them. A lot of people I know would get angry, or impatient -- but Elvis is very sweet to the kids, very nice to them. He always spent as much time with them as he can, even though it tires him out.

I dream a world where man no other man
will scorn. Where LOVE will bless the earth
    and peace its paths adorn...

    LOL

Love Elvis' sense of humour and warmth:

In 1973, Mamie Engle, then 84, was given a special encounter with Elvis when he was hospitalized in a room that was close to her room.

Ms. Engle said, "I'm sitting on top of the world. I was in my room and I saw this young man being rolled past the door. I waved and he waved back. He had that (oxygen) mask over his face but he seemed to smile. I'm convinced Elvis Presley was sent to me from heaven."

That afternoon, Ms Engle received a note that read, "To Miss Engle - I saw you too".

    Love,
    Elvis Presley.
