I think this song was a good choice for his setlist because it provided him with a then contemporary rock song to sing.
That said Elvis' version from the On Stage/second Vegas engagement form early 1970 was the best after that it seemed he didn't put as much thought into it and it was rushed.
Tony Joe White's original I still give the edge to.
