    what songs to put in a party-playlist for non-Elvisfans?

    I was busy to create a great playlist for a party (coming up in a few months ) and wanted to add some Elvis songs to it. None of my friends are Elvisfans, but I feel the duty to educate them (yup, by force). Of course I want to present Elvis in the best way possible.

    So what's the best live version of Suspicious Minds? It may be the best performance or the best soundquality,

    Best soundquality:
    * The Concert - 2000 World Tour
    * In Person
    * Live In Las Vegas (boxset, disc 2: hear the drummer go insane)
    * On Stage (Legacy Edition)
    * The Wonder Of You (FTD)

    Did I oversee any high quality version? There are great sounding version from 1972-1974, but those performance don't match those of 1969-1970.

    Btw, what other songs are recommended to add to the party playlist?

    I always loved the In Person version, the backing singers sound awesome in that one, as well as the drums!

    The best version of that one is on the FTD release of course.

    Elvis songs that always do it good with non Elvis fans, from what I experienced are: Way Down and Burning Love.

    '69 versions are great, but perhaps too long for such a crowd to endure. One of my personal favorites is from the On Stage album.

    Other songs.. well let's see. Steamroller Blues is cooler than many would admit, but none have come up with a better argument against it than the suit he was wearing.
    all the goons I left behind,

    I love the in person version. I will try and think of some more for your playlist.

    I'd put anything from 1969-1970 time frame. A performer on top of his game!

    The Best Versions In My Opinion are from 1969.

    All Shook Up FTD (1969-08-26) Suspicious Minds
    At The International FTD (1969-08-23) Suspicious Minds (My Favourite)

    Other great live songs:-

    Close Up Disc 4 - Live In Texas 1972 - See See Rider
    Close Up Disc 4 - Live In Texas 1972 - Proud Mary great drum rolls
    Close Up Disc 4 - Live In Texas 1972 - How Great Thou Art Good clear vocals

    That's The Way It Is SE (The Rehearsal - Cd 3) I Got A Woman

    One Night In Vegas - Polk Salad Annie
    On Stage (& Legacy Edition) - Polk Salad Annie My Favourite.
    I love the talking intro opposed to the faster versions in 1972

    On Stage (& Legacy Edition) - Johnny B. Goode Just a kick a-s-s song

    That's The Way It Is SE (The Concert - Cd 2) - Mystery Train /Tiger Man

    That's The Way It Is SE (The Concert - Cd 2) - That's Alright

    Live On Stage In Memphis - An American Trilogy My Favourite
    Big Boss Man (1975-03-30) - An American Trilogy

    Big Boss Man (1975-03-30) - Promised Land Just great to hear it live and done so well.

    I'm trying to make an ultimate performance CD, tough trying to choose

    I'd go with the In Person version, it is long-but it also shows the him when he was still totally and fully committed to making the best music and giving the best live performance.
    Work in Progress!

    Re: Party playlist: best version of "Suspicous Minds"

    Yes, i agree that the 1969 version is so long. But I really dig the sound of some of the 1969 recordings. But while checking all those 1970 versions it struck me how "full-speed-ahead" Elvis went in 1970 with this song. And fortunately the soundsquality is also really good on many of those recordings.

    I was also thinking about "Little Sister/Get Back"
