I guess we were writing our threads at the same time It is really cool news. Such a pleasure to hear the DJ on Radio One say those words, considering they have a policy of not playing old music

The DJ even mentions that Elvis, could knock himself off No.1 next week with One Night, and therefore take the 1,000th UK No.1!

    Also!!!

The BBC are holding a poll for the greatest UK No.1 of all time! Elvis is there - with a whopping 19 UK No.1's - now two clear of his nearest rivals the Beatles on 17.

This is great news! I wish we could witness Elvis at number one on the Hot 100 airplay and sales chart here in the states. Our charts have gone to pot. Can't tell the Rap/hip hop chart from the Pop/Rock/Hot 100 chart. Kudos to the recorded legacy of Elvis....may he have even more #1's.

That's is great news for Elvis indeed and even for fans in the uk.

but i would like to know on how they put this on a Elvis #1 album next time when the do a nother album like the #1 hits.

well they put Jailhouse Rock on there 2 time's in a row or they will have to put a live version or an out-take version.lol

but anyway it is good to hear that Elvis is still getting fans.

One of the best things about this is that it dispels the notion that Elvis' music can only enjoy success on today's charts in remixed form--not so!

    Elvis is timeless!

Well done to all the uk fans for getting the king to number one again This is our birthday present to you Elvis .Theres only one

Its great that he's number one!

    But...

He got to number one, with record sales of about 10,500. Which in comparison to when he was alive, he would generally need a million seller. The charts though have changed, and I'm just delighted that Elvis has topped them, and that the UK charts have not gone down the same ridiculous route as the American charts, where a number one is determined by sales and airplay! In essence America is trusting musical directors/record companys instead of the public, as to who shoudl go to number one. They have robbed America's freedom in choosing a number 1 single!

On another note, Elvis' last number one, A Little Less Conversation sold 176,250 copies in it's first week in the UK!

Still, hopefully Elvis will get Number 1 next week with One Night. I really want him to have the 1,000th UK Number 1.

That's great news and a worthy gift for Elvis 70th birthday. I wished that Elvis was so popular in the Netherlands as in the UK. Our man is timeless. This no 1 hit proves it ones again.

    Be safe and take care,
