Nashville marathon for me![]()
I absolutely love the FTD release LIVE IN LA BOOK//CD.
The book is a quality production with great pics although some text would have enhanced further.
The soundboard concert is superb with great versions of "Trying To Get To You" –– an awesome "Steamroller Blues," funky "Hound Dog" and a bluesy version of "Polk Salad Annie."
The concerts quite atmospheric with James Burton's guitar being tuned a lot, which adds to the live vibe. The sound is muddy but improves a great deal with increased treble adjustment. Even with these little niggles it's still my favourite, plus Led Zeppelin (who were in the crowd and enormous fans) get name checked by Elvis.
Here's a quote From David Stanley's Book about Led Zeppelin being at The Show......
"Being a huge Zeppelin fan, I told Elvis before the show that the entire band was in the audience. He didn't say much, but he did the best show I've seem him do. Later he told me: "I'm guess I showed those boys how to rock." I simply said: "I guess you did."
After the concert, all the members of Zeppelin come over to the hotel to meet Elvis, and from the time they walked in the door, to the time they left, they were star-struck. I mean they were like little kids. You could definitely classify them as super fans. I escorted them to the door when it was time to leave and on the way out, Robert Plant turned and in his best Elvis impersonation voice, began singing "Treat me like a fool" and Elvis finished the line singing "treat me mean and cruel". The scary thing was that Plant sounded exactly like Elvis. The band loved it."

Definitely a tough one...
Of course, I'd have to say it's a tie between the ELVIS TODAY classic album reissue just because that is my all time favorite album and THE JUNGLE ROOM SESSIONS simply because I love those sessions!!!

Something for everybody
I am so glad that the FTD label do exist. 20-30 years ago most of the new albums was "greates hits" with nothing new..
Today we can hear something "new" every second month. Not everything is great, but some of mine favourites are
"The Jungle Room Sessions"
"The Wonder of You"
"The Nashville Marathon"
"Good Times"
"Elvis is Back".......
You must get the vinyl version JUNGLEROOM76 –you'll love it!
There's a great version of 'Pledging My Love" (take 3) plus an additional version of the great George Jones track "She Thinks I Still Care" from the MADE IN MEMPHIS FTD.
Sound is good too, and all on a nice 180 gram pressing – each side of the album is a cracker!
I got rid of my vinyl collection about 5-7 years ago and probably last played vinyl about 15 years ago,so dropping the needle down on TJRS was unbeatable.
I hope FTD release more vinyl, do think they will Mike?
Cheers,
Thank you so much for the information! Now I'm going to have to intensify my efforts to pick one up before they are gone!!!
Based on the positive response from the JRS, BLUE HAWAII and STANDING ROOM ONLY vinyl releases, I certainly would imagine that FTD will continue to occasionally release some FTD titles on vinyl! Perhaps the GOOD TIMES FTD might see a vinyl release, especially considering the great reviews that everyone is giving it!!!

Yes, GOOD TIMES would be a good one – plus TODAY & ELVIS SINGS MEMPHIS TENNESSEE
Thanks for the vinyl endorsement
Cheers

JRS is awesome, I just can't stop playing it!
As of right now, my favorite FTD release is the Good Times 2cd expanded edition.
For me, the sound quality is superb, and the session alternate takes are quite interesting to listen to.
I'm also a big fan of the cd Too Much Monkey Business. Hearing those fine songs remixed with entirely different backing instrumentation gives the songs new life imo, and for me it's a nice change![]()
"Don't tamper with the property of the U.S. Male"
I'm going with Southern Nights.
