    Elvis' visit to Nixon

Do you think the White House staff were laughing behind Elvis' back when they allowed him to see the President or it was Elvis who did it since he got what he wanted from them? See Haldeman's annotation on the memo attached below

    I love the quote..........
'The King is here to see the President'.........

    'Which King?'

    'No, THE King'.........

    'What, Elvis Presley is here?'............

    Great stuff!!!!!

Yes, the "You must be kidding" annotation at the end sums it up perfectly.

By 1970, Elvis was so far removed from what young people were about, it's hilarious to think that anyone in Nixon's corrupt administration actually believed he could possibly be of use in helping Tricky Dicky get through to them.

You can be assured that, as soon as the somewhat out-of-it Elvis left the White House, there were more than a few snickers at his expense.

Yeah, they probably had a few laughs after he left. But when you read Elvis' letter to Nixon and know he finally got the badge I think it were them who made a fool of themselves
