fairy tale - the story of my life.

heres a great song that gets a lot of scrutiny from critcs and some fans even jorgensen panned the song saying that ELVIS just didn't have the voice for this , now i have to say that i love this song [only the live versions] just hate the studio version especially all that overdubs and what about that bloody fiddle playin- my fave live versions are from big boss man cd, dae's let me take you home... and o course pitts 76 and ftd's sundial tours, so do any of you like/hate this track? if so why.

I always had much more of an affinity for the live versions as well, for the reasons that you stated. I am not adamantly opposed to the fiddle but just don't think it works on this song. It sounds like it doesn't belong, seems artificial.

The version heard on the FTD Dixieland Rocks is an excellent version. Vocally Elvis was in top form. The FTD Spring Tours '77 version is also very strong aside from a microphone problem at the end.
