    Girl Happy FTD Re-issue(d)

The Follow That Dream Collectors label edition of the film classic "Girl Happy" has been re-issued. The only change to the previous release of this soundtrack on the FTD label is the replacement of the...

    Re: Girl Happy FTD Re-issue(d)

One main question....does anyone know why FTD re-released GIRL HAPPY just for this one little change???

To me, this seems like an unnecessary move on FTD's part...

Because that's Sony/BMG/FTD (or whatever their name is this week) at their typical best! Releasing a product that's already been released before, but in a different package.

Also, since they advertise the sound quality on the new release is much improved, doesn't that mean they're admitting the original release had inferior sound quality, thus labeling it as an "inferior or defective product"? If so, wouldn't it be a good business practice to offer the "new sounding" release at a discount price to those who purchased the original release?

This releasing a product in one format (ex: Rockin' Across Texas, The Way It Was), then later on re-releasing it in a different format is actually quite irritating and unfair to the fans and consumers imo.

The powers that be really need to step back and take a look at their business practices I do believe.

The reason for the better sound quality is due to High Fidelity". The technology is getting better in levels especially with bass out put that would sound punchier on the newer sound systems providing a more compatible sound to the newer artist' releases.
Have you ever compared the first release of Girl Happy on CD with FTD's version? The first version is very muted and has no punch at all to the bass.
Hopefully, this is a state of the art version and not just a re-release of the same files with a newer sleeve.
Not only should bass be better but clarity in sound. Such as separation of instruments and Elvis' voice should sound a lot clearer.
I had stated a while ago that FTD's,RCA Whatever it want's to call itself, was holding back on the up to date sound levels to re-release the ones they have now.

How they work is beyond most of us I guess.

They have taken better titles out of the collection before, and re-issue titles that are questionable to most fans... Amazing really.

They should think of releasing the titles that truly matter to the fans: On Tour, In Concert, to name just two.

Yeah but my understanding is that this is the exact same packaging as the original GIRL HAPPY release except for this one change...

    SEE ABOVE COMMENT!!!

Sadly, no matter how much the fans complain (about anything, not necessarily just this particular matter), it appears that EPE/RCA has absolutely no interest in listening to the fans. Occasionally they will say that they do listen, but if they did, then they would slow down on the number of FTD releases each year as the fans have suggested, lower prices on many of the souvenirs sold through ShopElvis.com as the fans have suggested, release ELVIS IN CONCERT and ELVIS ON TOUR on DVD as the fans have suggested, etc...

Once again it just goes to show that the powers that be really don't care if they bite the hand that feeds them. Perhaps one of these days, the fans ought to band together and bite back???

    Re: Girl Happy FTD Re-issue(d)

I don't mind re-releases such as these as I am a fan who started collecting original FTD's not too long ago so for this I am happy it got restored.

But as for fans who've been following the label since its 1999 debut I do understand the frustration of all of these re/releases!
