Xmas film

Given that EP recorded some great Xmas songs does anyone know if the idea of doing a christmas themed film was ever looked into when EP was on the film treadmill in the 60s?

If he had we would be having yearly re-runs as we do with 'White Christmas' etc.

yeah that would of been a great idea.. an elvis christmas film i would of watched it always during the holidays..tragically the colonel was a blah manager he never came up with new projects 4 elvis .he was a 1950's type manager

You are right, monk37, I forgot about that. He could have ruined a great Elvis moment.

It was only called "the comeback special" after the fact.
Indeed Parker signed Elvis to do a holiday special-his idea was for the special to be nothing but Christmas and religious music.
It only became what it was after Elvis and Steve Binder discussed the idea of the direction of the show-Parker fought it all the way.
Later it became known as the Comeback Special because that is how it was perceived by the public and press.
