Thread: Twilight - The Presley Factor?

  1. #21

Re: Twilight - The Presley Factor?

the kids don't take the time anymore to fully discover Elvis, May.

My girls always admit he was quite handsome but they are not into his music. Maybe when they grow older who knows.... They hear the music here quite often and like it but they are not really into it.....

For them it is a guy who died many years ago, you know.....

I still had him living in my lifetime and that makes the difference.

My mom used to tell me how gorgeous Clark Gable was....

I saw gone with the wind and had to admit he was indeed a very good looking man but there it stopped somehow for me too.

Each generation needs his idol I guess and an idol who they see alive and who can cover each week all the tabloids, with new stories.

That is a bit gone for Elvis.

He isn't alive anymore you know and that is something the youth can't really grasp....

Elvis was way more good looking then Pattinson but for them Pattinson, is the GREATEST....

    What can we say....

The day Elvis died, the world kept on turning.

I think if he had been born later in time he would have become even a greater artist with more possibilities for him too.....

He could easily have made films like Twilight too. His beauty is timeless and seems to fit in every timeframe really....

    Amazing.

I do wonder if the generation of my teens will still talk about him to their children??????

Or will he slowly be forgotten?????

He was unique but time does its work ruthlessly and merciless......
It's hard NOT to imagine Elvis as perfect; how else could someone be THAT good looking, THAT talented, THAT generous & THAT charismatic

Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go

Rob Pattinson doesn't look vampy enough for me. Something is missing, a depth. He doesn't have the manly inner strength, to me.

In the series of "Angel" David Boreanz pulls it off.

    As does Brad Pitt.

You know, it never ceases to amaze me how many people use these forums to ridicule and rubbish other entertainers.
I think the best case of this was when MJ died. The poor guy was hardly cold and out came the venom.
Now we have a repeat of the same thing only with Robert Pattinson.
It starts out with someone mentioning the Presley factor. Why, I don't know. This then gives all the self opinionated an opportunity to sharpen their tongues and do a hatchet job on Pattinson. Again I ask, why? Are you so insecure and shallow that you honestly think he's a threat to Elvis?
Let's just accept the guy for what he is. An actor doing a job. And a bloody well paid job !!
I'd also like to defend his costar, but this little voice keeps telling me why waste time and words on Mr Getlo and his ilk.
In closing I'd like to quote the famous person who once said " GET A LIFE !!!!!!"

I agree with you about the other celebs - but Jackson was long ridiculed before he died - and deservedly so.

I will say that I've never seen as much glee over a celeb death - that was a bit disturbing.

Since, it exceeded the response usually reserved for serial killers

What's laughable is someone posts a thread comparing a flavor of the month celebrity like this guy to a celebrity of Elvis' stature.
Elvis fans have a tendency especially one's of a younger generation to compare Elvis to them.

The only people that could compare to Elvis are Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and the Beatles as a group otherwise Elvis has no equals.

Re: Twilight - The Presley Factor?

IMO Pattinson is a fine actor and the fact the teenage girls go crazy about him says it all.
No comparison to THE one and only, but there is no need to either.

He is neat, i liked the films and my girls do not stop talking about him. I wish him a great career and IMO he is PERFECT for the role too.

I don't think Michael Jackson deserved to be ridiculed.
