Thread: Trying to look like Elvis, need some help.

Trying to look like Elvis, need some help.

Ok, I have been growing out my hair for a few months now, and I get the sides and back cut, and leave the front long. I think about 2 or 3 more months and it will be the perfect length.

I am also going to dye it black.

    I have 2 questions:

Should I get my eyebrows shaped like his? (Mine are a little more bushy).

Where can I get some fake sideburns, that are professional looking? And will stay on? LOL

I have my Dads 50s Leather Jacket, and some tight fitting T-shirts and Jeans. But I still need to get some black boots.

I have decided that I want to dress and look (style) like Elvis, because that is what I like and I really don’t care what people will think.

But I need some help and tips from you guys to achieve a good look.

Could you guys help me out?

You can always try it and if you're not happy with the results then at least you know they'll grow back to normal soon enough

Just be careful not to go too far. Elvis wasn't known for having especially bushy eyebrows but they weren't so little either. Go steady and keep checking as you go.

The guy that cuts my hair is very good, I am pretty sure he will do a great job with my eyebrows too. I hope. LOL

Also, I am going to take my time, and get everything done right, so it won’t look like crap.

Then I am going to get studio quality pictures taken. So you guys can see the end result.

if you want to try and look like elvis, try and get your hair and eyebrows done to suit your face shape, not just a direct copy from a photo.

    this is me every day...

    Thanks!

    And cool picture!

I can’t grow sideburns for some reason.

I need to get fake ones, but they need to look good.

Also, these pictures were taken a little over a month ago. My hair looks better now, and will be finished in about 2 more months.

Also, my eyebrows are more bushy than they look in the pictures, it is just the bad lighting. I really need to get them shaped.

I just went and got a haircut.

He said the front is not long enough yet, so we decided to wait on dyeing it black.

2 or 3 more months and the front will be long enough. I get the back and sides cut once a month.

I just took these pictures when I got home.

    ?
I think you're right, you shouldn't care what others think. Anyway, you can't go wrong with an Elvis look IMO!

Plus, remember, Elvis didn't care what he thought back in the early fifties with his long hair and sideburns. He stood out from the crowd when they all had very short hair!

Re: Trying to look like Elvis, need some help.

I've seen this time and time again with die hard Elvis fans. God bless them for carrying on the image and reminding people of how great he was at putting such an image together but Once you will completing the Elvis look, people will start over analyzing you and some will laugh behind your back. I've seen it done at Elvis events I've been to. This one time this very un-attractive couple was laughing at one, I turned to them and said, "let me see, who do you look like?", they stopped laughing instantly. I usually don't stoop so low as in judging people's looks but like the saying goes, "Judge not and be not Judged".
There's something very strange about how people react once they see that you're a decent looking person who can capture the Elvis' look very well. Most men wish they could look like Elvis and it bothers some women who don't come close to how much better looking he was then they'll ever be. It's ok for them if it's really Elvis, but once an,'Average Joe", in their opinion, I call them Awesome die hard fans, tries to capture it and even worst achieves it, it sets off a jealousy factor in them.

Keep up the good work my friend, just giving you a heads up on possibly things to come.

I personally think it's so awesome that even in this day and age, Elvis is the coolest image in the world.
